Need to go over 100mph. HELP!!!

Let me start by saying that i race off road not on road.

I have a family member that has too much money and asked me to build him an rc car that went over 100mph but i dont know where to start.

what on road car?
1/10 scale or 1/8 scale?

how fast more or less can i go with a mamba 5700kv and 3s lipo?

Remember money isn't an issue...at all.

Custom build or off the shelf with mods upgrade?

8th scale would probably be a little more stable at high speeds, buggy based kits are strong (buggy based, what more do i need to say) and an electric conversion can easily be had.

1/8 scale would be the best thing for me since thats all i know and race...

But can i go 100+ with a buggy....

10th scale plenty to choose from. 8th scale on-road Serpent966e the only one coming out, sometime in '10.

3S lipo's instead of 57kv, run a 2.5k Tekins Redline alot faster especially with 10th on-road car. and easier to reach 100+mph. I have a old Xray T1 with 3S 5000 mah lipo, Stock spur, Tekin RSPro, Tekins Redline 2.5kv.depending on pinion teeth, 100+ is reach wth no problems. Thing is you have to run Foam tires. Regular rubber tires will balloon so much, up to 4-4 1/2 inches in diameter. The T1 I don't race, it used as a test bed for my electric cars, just bashing at Encino Veladrome(outdoor closed cycle track).

I was the race director for the ISC - Ultimate Speed Challenge at the Drag Strip at California Speedway a month ago, and I can tell you reaching 100 MPH is not an easy thing to do (Even on a Smooth Drag Strip with 2000 ft. of run space)

NITRO or ELECTRIC those guys struggled...except for a couple of the more experienced ones...

TIRES are generally the NUMBER 1 issue.

Keeping a TIRE from Ballooning and shredding due to the RPM's at that speed is difficult.

One of the most impressive cars (to me) at the ISC event was the OFNA GTP off road car. That thing was FAST and DURABLE when it did get crashed...it took it and kept running STRONG.

To actually achieve a legitimate 100 MPH Top Speed on DIRT or Off-Road would be cool to see... (I know that's not your goal, but I'd love to see it)

I live near PISMO BEACH and there is a Sand Highway that you can drive on the damp flat sand....they use to hold SAND DRAGS up there - That would be a fun place to watch it.

Recoil with mamba max and 5600 motor.

I will have to look and see what servo i used. But that it very important. You want something that will hold the car straight and stray on you. Weve actually had this up to 105mph but never got a video of it.

unless he's got a radar gun, a 1/8th offroad doing like 70 looks like 100 :)

there have been multiple youtube videos of someone using an ae 1/8 buggy with e conversion and he clocked it at 101

Were you running a 3S LiPo for that run? Also do you have anything on the front of the car to keep it from flying? What gear ratio were you running?+
