Default adjust the ball differential for M03 ??

Hi there,

Who can tell me how I adjust the ball differential for M03. How tighten or untighten the nut in the ball diff for a smooth ride.

Quoting directly from our M03 Build-up story..

Ball diff? Then buy the TA03 one and build it exactly as per the instructions. Only difference? Use anti-wear grease instead of the standard diff lube supplied. Don't take out bits or anything, just build it. The only other thing we're going to change here is when you tighten it. Just...umm..tighten the crap out of it, and leave it.

That's all you need to do, there's no science to it,

Default I lost the instructions

I lost the instructions to ball diff. and forgot the order of the beveled washer when I was taking apart to clean.

Does some have a scan of back of package or can tell me how the washers went?

thanks

That does not work, you have a stiff driveshaft. Then you have no steering ?
Maybe good for drifting, but not for racing. You need a limited slip in the diff for a lot of steer.

Someone?

Out of curiosity, did you try the diff build that Tony suggested???? Almost all of the really fast guys around here use some variation of his suggestion for their Minis. Incidentally, our local group has had the last three TCS Mini National Champions for the USA. Also in touring cars on certain surfaces, they will use a spool to replace the front diff.

If you will get off of your high horse and build the way Tony suggested, you will find that you will get a smooth, limited slip diff. My suggestion would be to try it, before saying it doesn't work.

i use a VERY TIGHT gear diff in both my M03 and M05 , only because i overtightened the screw in the M03 ball diff and screwed it

works VERY well and i was fastest at the weekend

Anybody running M03 with completely locked front diff ? Is this setup can lower lap times ? better exit power ?

( locked front diff by applying epoxy to bevel gear ).

So if you tighten the crap out of the ball diff, does it give you posy? Do you want that with the M05 as well? I put 300k diff oil in the stock diff and it gives me posy. Is that what I want?

Portyansky,

Firstly, no idea what posy is, so can't help you there.

I think you'll find that the diff grease you have used in the gear diff will make it's way elsewhere after a few runs-the diffs dont seal well at all.....

Lastly, as others pointed out, build the diff as per instructions, include the tips from tony, and go race it. 99% of all the fast guys I know of build their diff the same way.
