So you didn't drive the 4S/2650Kv combination yet, or did you?
First do that, and then I will hear what you think of it.....

Driving for 2-3 minutes, is different then driving it for 5-6 minutes.
I did, and heat will go up!

I have my opinion, based on my experience in electric, from education and profession, that's why I didn't go for 4S lipo, but 6S.
I agree that batteries are getting better and better al the time, but they are just not there yet!

on the video , that is 4S 2650KV. but with hobbywing speedy. i had 2 stick packs , one each side of the car. as i was drivig it pretty hard, the batteries had a stint in Mod with my touring car, then the 8th scale finnished them off. they puffed up big time. i just feel the tekin has more adjustment to prevent the load coming out of corners that is straining the batteries. as grip levels compared to Offroad are huge. what we really need is motors designed for what we are doing. take out all the torque and make them have more capabilites of RPM.

I agree, the Hobbywing feels kinda agressive, indeed to much punch, even with punch set to 1.
But that your Lipo's puffed, is exactly the reason why I went 6S, a higher Voltage level will give less current drawn from the Lipo's, my Lipo's where 40 celcius, after a 6 minutes run.

Look at this....

I think they have done it...

well unfortunately my hands are tied for battery type. local rule set at this stage, is Roar approved hard case lipo, at 4S no more then 3000kv motor.

this is why i am trying to stick and get the 4S to work. personally, 5S is a very good balance between the 2 , and the tekin, its so easy to set and change. that is why i have now gone with the tekin speedy, as there is so much more, push control is a good thing, prevents the loss of speed when you back off, so the corner speed stays steady and you dont use so much more effort from teh batts to get things moving again. our track is quite free flowing and fast, i dont use much brake , if any at all, also with the Tekin, it runs Dual mode, so once its going it runs sensorless, and you can add a timing advance to also dough down the bottom end. as well as throttle profiles, and current limiter.

are al those options also available for the 8th scale firmware?

Maybe I should get my hands on a Tekin also...

It's 6S.
Lehner is a specialized company for brushless motors, they are hand made, on the exact specifications according to your needs....
I have just 1 week ago heard of them for the first time....

I know you are going to test with your mrx2, I've asked about it in the other thread, but no reply from you yet...

i melted mine to a little blue blob. took the motor out at same time. lol Flames 2Ft high from a speedy. was quite enthrawling to watch .

Martin, yes the Rx8 has all those options, that is why i think its best to be using it for me now on. specially on 4S. but my batteries are not going to make it on time for this weekend, so i will run onemore time with 5S and show its the way to go. will try to set up a video on the sweeper entry to show how fast it really is, compared to 4S.

What are you guys doing yo handle the speed of your 966e? I get to about half throttle or less and she looses traction really bad I've played with gearing and lipos and I get the same result. Help Please

I think I may need to adjust the tow-in or something

Default Serpent Setup

Sounds like you may need to find a setup station and look at rear toe and camber and tyre shore or even shocks
if it is onpower lack of traction

Check if the 4wd is working correctly. Front or side belt missing some teeth?
Also check if the diameter difference between rear and front tyres is 6-7mm, if it will be more you will have that behavior.

I'm just at a loss for words right now with my 966e. I have my 1/8 scale Mugen dialed in, but this Serpent is given me hell.
