Default CIAO SONO ALESSIO DALL'ITALIA VI CONSIGLIO IL MOTORE LRP SPX8-VECTOTOR CON CORONA PIG

Any updates on what people are running or if the Zippy packs will fit?? I'm thinking about getting one and running Tekin, I presume the 2650kv motor would be best on 4s. I currently run 6s in by Xray 808, but can't see 6s fitting
.

I doubt any 5000mah LIPO packs will fit the 966E saddle design....my 4600mah Speed Power fits perfectly (with 0.5mm space around, which is very very close). It is NOT the height of the lipo that bothers me, it is the width and lenght of the saddle packs that you have to worry about. If only just the height of the packs, you can add spacer and raise the plastic cover and will still work...but if the packs are wider and longer, nothing will work.

Thanks for the reply, I had a look at the Speed Power batteries and compared against the Zippy. Looks like the Zippy are shorter, but taller, so should fit with some spacers, but next issue is body clearance. I guess when I eventually get my 966E, they are cheap enough to try, if no one else has.

Yes. Once you raise the batteries cover...it won't fit the body...cause I know my current 909 body is BARELY sit on top of the chassis and my R8 ESC is actually rubbing against the bottom of the body. If you raise the cover, it won't fit...

Bite the bullet, get the Speed Power one or the IP or anything around 4600mah...

I use 25mm and there is about 1-2mm gap. Using 23mm the battery case should flush with the chassis.

Thanks. Do you what the width and length would be? I am looking at buying the IP saddle packs.

69 x 46.5 mm. It fits snugly (the gap is less than 0.5 mm)

Just wondering what kind of power setups you guys are using I.e. Motor/esc/spur/pinions etc..for your 966e

I am using the LRP SPX 8 and LRP Vector 8 2800kv using the stock spurs n pinions, and after approximate 5min run, motor is burning hot.... Have now installed the Tekin 2600kv and see what that one will be like on stock pinion and spur.

Track is parking lot, small-medium size, medium bite....

Ps I am on the IP saddles and they are slightly taller but no issues there..

I use castle Mamba monster 2200kV truggy/monster truck motor with 20T pinion and 4S.
Motor temp is 150F , I'll gear it more to 22T as the torque still too much.
With 22-24T I think I can keep up with 966 nitro top speed.
Use only truggy (big motor, 420+ gram with 966E). Smaller motor is just too much for 966E. LRP vector 8 is only 275 gram
The other big motor is Tekin truggy motor.
With lots of traction, 1/8 on road is much more power demanding than even 5Kg monster truck.
If you still want to use the Vector 8, use smaller pinion like 14 or 16T, but you are not use the 966E potential.

Darmawaa,

Thanks for the response.... Well I already have the tekin 2600kv, so maybe I'll gear it down...I have a 17t pinion. Even with the LRP 2800kv, there's already soo much torque on the infield.....

Have anyone tried the hobby wing 1/8 sensored combo?

I used the Intellect IP saddle pack 5200mah 45C, and that fits perfect.

The height/thickness of this battery is 25mm and the lenght 68mm

How big is the Hobby wing motor? 966E need high horsepower motor, I think 400 gram minimum.

From their website they are around 345-385grams....

I find it rather interesting that you quote motor potential from their weight?!

What is the basis of using weight? The hobbywings are 2000kv and 2200kv motors.
