Hello,
I know this question must have been anwsered 1000 times, but i have to ask it again.
I have a TA04-S with the following:
-Nosram Internation Speedy
-White Springs at Front
-Blue Springs at Back
-Standered Shock oil
-Yellow Sway bars at front
-Racing hub set at front
-Deans plugs on battery and motor
-1 to 2 degree Camber at front
-1 degree toe-in at front
-Standed kit setup at back
-540 Tin Can motor 83/40 (Racing in 540 pro)
-GP 3300 batteries
The problem is that i don't have the speed that other guys do that run less hop-ups runing the same gears. What is a good setup useing the bits i have.
Any advice on the TA04 Setup Camber, toe-in\out Springs etc wise would be great.

Unless you're running at Bonneville, you're geared waaaaaaayyy to tall. Go down to an 85/34 combination and things will get much perkier. Pay close attention to battery voltage- every tenth helps. There's can also be a considerable difference between motors. You might consider buying several more and water dipping them to see if you can find a faster one...but DON'T overgear it!

water dipping????? The track that i race has a lot of corners so going to 85/34 is that a good idea. What about the setup?
Which 540 motors are better then the rest?

Take the motor out of the car and while connected to a battery, dip just the motor in a cup of clear water to clean it out.
You might try the Sport Tuned 540. Tamiya part #53068
Also, check the "freeness" of the drivetrain. Do the bearings run smoothly?? Is the belt tight but not TO tight?? Are the diffs smooth?? (check for to much grease)

Drivetrain is smooth. Can't change the motor in the class that i'm in. Will try your tips.

One thing to look at ios your radio/speedy. Check that the speedy is actually getting a "flat stick" signal (the manual will tell you what the LED does when this happens). I have seen ppl bump trim settings and other stuff then wonder why their car is not working right.
Work out the rollout for your car. I belive anything over 40mm is a waste of time. You will not gain any real speed but you will lose all your punch gearing over 40mm.

Your gearing is too high, about 4.4.
Gear about 5.2 is OK as wat recommended by rccardr. Too high becomes too hot for the motor and drop performance,.

I run 2 cars TAO 4PRO & TAO R which both have a Johnson 540 motor. Intel Speed Controller (Autosport). I race cars on the Sunshine Coast, Qld Australia on a track with a lot of tight turns. My Rollout on TAO4R with a 61mm rubber tyre diam. is 35.99, thats running on a 64mm pitch, pinion 48, spur 120, which gives a gear ratio of 4.33, this works well on our track with no overheating problems with either speed controller or motor. I don't know a lot about set up on cars, still learning myself. Factory set-up on recommendations on manuals. Looking into getting a set-up book for cars which may help you also. It is called "XXX-MAIN" you may be able to get this book from your local library or hobby shop.

The Formula for Rollouts is
Diameter of tyre x pye(3.14) = radius.
Radius devided(Spur devided by Pinion x Drive Ratio) = Rollout
to get Drive Ratio is Large Gear/Small Gear
Diff Pully (Large Gear)
Central Pully (Small Gear).
Example:
Large = 32teeth Small = 15 teeth
32/15 = 2.13 which is the DRIVE RATIO to my knowledge this is the same on all TAO4 cars.
Diameter of tyre say 60mm
Spur Gear 64 pitch = 120tooth
Pinion Gear = 48tooth
60 x 3.14 = 188.4 Radius
188.4 devided by(120 devided by 48 times 2.13)
= 188.4 devided by (5.33)
= 35.35 Rollout
Rollout = for one turn of the motor car will move forward 35.35mm.
This is all for the 64pitch this is a fine tooth which comes with the TAO4 kit. There is a 48 pitch which is not an original tamiya part but seems to be commonly used in Australia on TAO4s and other cars.

Why are you asking others that? That is a question only YOU can find the answer for.
Just put it in your car and race it... if the new ratio gives you a better lap time, then it's it.
If not then try again with something else.
Its all a tradeoff... a lower ratio gives better pickup at the infield but loses on the straight. A lot of it depends on your driving style too - a smooth driver can carry a higher ratio and still make decent lap times.
If your 540 gets too hot... you could buy it the Tamiya finned motor plate heatsink, works pretty well. I have it in both my PRO and R.

if they are faster then check how free ur drivetrain is, how much your car weighs and how gbood you batteries are. batteries are SO SO important! they're the only reson i do good in the 540 pro class.
