I would add a .5mm shim under the football on each screw.

sounds like the LT pivot is now the same size as AE's 12R5. the R5 will probably work fine at 1/4 the price.

scratch this, it doesn't look like serpent revised the part, so the AE pivot is not an option.

Yes, there is a price difference, but 1/4....

and no, the LT pivot is not the same height as the AE, it is the same size. (5mm)
So, if you want to use an AE, you have to also replace the 4 pivot balls from the side links

But I have never broken a Serpent pivot ball......

Thanks for the help, I founds some washers from my old 12r5 I use to have that are used for holding the transponder in. They measured .48mm thick and worked perfect.
Also does anyone have a setup for asphalt for the S120LT?

yes, but i was suggesting a different pivot support not the ball.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...-Pivot-Support
replace with
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...Brace-Pod-Link

the last time i purchased the serpent part it was $14 dollars, so it used to be 4x's the price, but now it is only 2x's.

someone had indicated that Serpent changed to the same size as the AE part, but i noticed the part number hasn't changed between the S120L LT or LTX, so probably Serpent didn't change the part and the AE part is not an option. sorry for the confusion.

Although if you try the AE pivot balls, you might prefer them. compared to the Kyosho plazma's butter balls (extremely light but soft) and the Serpent S120L rocks (strong but heavy), the R5 are just right (light smooth and strong enough)

Ok, not sure if it fits.

I went back to the beginning of 2011 in the pricelists I have, and I think it was a mistake made by the company you ordered it from (I see this happen more)

The AE pivot balls are an option, becuase they are 0.3(?)mm lower, so you can lower your CG, but as mentioned, not as strong as the Serpent ones....

The part number apparently has not changed on amainhobbies, I have been otherwise occupied and have not found the new part number myself; but it has to be different.

Here is the difference between the 120L and the 120LT chassis in regards to the size of the pivot.

This is the 120L and is 35mm from hole to hole:

This is the 120LT and the same pivot from the 120L is shown, it's 30mm from hole to hole.

I know that the Associated 12R5 pivot is 30mm, as is the Speedmerchant pivot, I could not locate the new pivot from Serpent and ended up using a Speedmerchant pivot for the time being until a proper one can be sourced.

*Edit/Update:

After much confusion and looking more into it, Serpent has NOT changed the size of the pivot (they have updated the shape/design a little from the S120) my apologies for posting they had, the car I had as a S120L and converted to a S120LT apparently has an unknown chassis, maybe On Point, which DOES have a wider mount and the pivot support I have is from a unknown source.

I am indeed a dumbass afterall.

However, this brings to light that it looks like the Serpent pivot is the same size as the AE and Speedmerchant pivot at 30mm from eye to eye.

If you are converting a S120L to the S120LT all you need is the conversion kit.

Hi, I just ordered an LTX, indoor track has opened recently creating a small surge in people buying pan cars here, but I only just realized they take a mini servo?, can anyone recommend a good budget servo for the little Serpent?

This is the 120L and is 35mm from hole to hole:

ok, it looks like your S120L had the onpoint chassis, which uses the 35mm wide pivot (same as AE 12R5 and Kyosho Plazma) while the S120L and S100 use a 30mm pivot.
besides the different spacing, the AE part (which you have pictured) adjusts pivot ball clearance with 2 button head screws from above, while the Serpent part has 2 flat head screws from below.

The Savox 1250 is a popular choice, but if you're on a real budget you could try the KDS N590.....can be found on ebay for $20 - $25. I'm giving one a try at the moment and seems not too bad for the money.....

I looked at all the brands, and though the layout was the nicest of the bunch, and the price was right, of course this means three classes and three different brands for me now.

R U Sure Martin? That's a 10th scale servo. Last time I checked your car you had a 12th scale Savox Servo in your car .
The only 12th scale servo (which I have used also) is a SH1350.

Regards Robert

Odd, I just found after building my kit, that all the link balls (side bars and rear pod ball), that take a 3x5mm screw, won't do up tight on the carbon plate, they are loose on the chassis etc.

I found you need a .2-.5mm shim to get them tight, otherwise they just spin in place, kind of suspect it's because they went from a 2.5mm to a 2mm chassis?, I'm thinking, or hoping the shims won't effect anything drastically, my rear pod also now sits a tiny bit lower than the chassis because of the shim I fit there, but guessing from previous posts it's not a big deal?
