Kopro Radios

Hi Guys and Gals,

I have been fighting a glitching problem for months now :flaming: and it appears that it is my transmitter unit. After replacing everything but the actual pistol grip unit it was still glitching severely. Used a friends radio and all my problems disappeared.

Sooo....I'm looking at getting a Kopro. Now my question is the Mars R is not to bad of a price ($190), but it isn't the latest version that is out (Helios @ $320)

What are the pro's/con's of going with the Mars over the Helios or vice versa?

Thanks for commenting.

Scott

Over at my place there are some users using Mars R.
But there are always glitching problems with some of them.
I cant tell whether its the Tx/Rx, the car or whatever.
Most of us are using Sanwa/Airtronics M8.
Its user friendly and problems coming out of it is kept to the minimal.

Just my 0.02

I was shopping around for a Helios and found a place for ~290. I don't remember now.

For some people with large hands, the Mar R grip is too small. You would have to try it for yourself as with any other radio.

I forgot to mention that you can find Helios cheaper overseas. The only downside is that if it breaks, you can't have warranty service done here.

Tommy Bergfeldt 02-25-2004 01:38 PM

wow.. you think that radios are expensive at 320? Here in Sweden the radios cost 3000-4000 Swedish Crowns and more which is about 400-500 bucks in todays ratings. I bought my Helios in HK for about 300 bucks including wheelextension unit and shipping at PrecisionRC.com
The prices are totally whacked up here, 80% of all the racers buy most of their stuff in HK, UK or in the States...
Whish i lived in Japan or HongKong!

I'll trade you, i'll live in sweden, you live in the US. The US is wearing thin on me lately.

Aku-Man 02-25-2004 02:04 PM

I bought my Helios at Micro Rc for $284.95 free shipping. I would suggest buy it at authorized dealers, so you can get support from Ko Propo USA.

I used 3PK and M8 before. Ko Propo is the best.

jc510 02-25-2004 02:05 PM

The government is wearing on me as well. What do you need. I can get the Helios for 315 locally. Poss 16 to 20 shipping

If your up for that, I'll find out what I want.:D

Chances are they will not make the same mistake twice. Also, I don't think they are in the U.S.

RCNUT, What is your price for the Helios EX-10, 75Mhz?

RCNUT 02-26-2004 04:58 PM

Helios

The best I can do is $310.

jc510 02-26-2004 05:02 PM

I really like the new Helios. I paid less the 3 but not much. There is a cost. I think it's around $260 to $270.

The realt cost is buying to servo's and ESC that really use the full radio potential:cry:

lol

update on the helios

Hey guys, I just hear from my distributor. They are running a special on the helios. I can sell them for $280 shipped anywhere in the US. This is for the 75mhz with receiver and crystal set. I have to place an order by Monday afternoon before the limited qty runs out. Email me at [email protected] if you want one.

g4t2 03-05-2004 03:09 PM

It really depends what you want. There is no doubt that the Helios has more features, but it is IMO very ugly compared the simplicity of the Mars R. It also depends if you think you will make use of all of the Helios' features, if not then you may aswell go for the Mars R and save yourself some wedge.

I pretty much figured out the settings but, probably only use a handful regularly.

I was fortunate enough to check out a Helios and talk to Ko Propo. Besides the sticker-shock I felt like the radio was a little awkward plus a handful and probably a good prop for "Men in Black 3".......

I still like the Mars, its simplicity and the only glitching I had was when my digital servo went south.

I ended up getting a Mars R from KMW here in RC Tech. Nice radio, gonna race with it for first time this weekend.

Also ended up picking up a VFS2000 and programmer for 90 bucks. Couldn't pass it up :D so will try that this weekend as well.
