Default New Track... Omaha, NE

The local Hobby Town USA just opened a track here in Omaha Nebraska. So I thought I would post a picture or two for those who may be interested.

Ozite carpet. Road coarse and oval layouts. Pits for 80 (currently 80 but with room for about 200 eventually). Each table pictured now has electrical run to it and supports 4 racers each with two plugs per racer.

Racing schedule and more information can be found here. These pictures were taken while the track was under construction. However, the track is now completed and racing started on Saturday, February 21st. I raced Sunday, February 22nd at the first Road Coarse race and it was a blast.

You can also find a small video of some of the racing from this sunday here but try to only dowload it once (right click and select "save target as") as I have limited bandwidth on this server.

We finished up pretty late yesterday. I think it was 7:30 or so. However, we didn't get started till after 2:00 and the turnout was pretty decent. I think we had 8 qualifier heats per round in various classes and we ran 3 qualifiers. I think they want to finish up by 6:00 most of the time.

I'm not sure what the dimensions are. Assuming the grooves in the cement are 12'x12' you might be able to guesstimate the dimensions from the pictures.

I'd guess at maybe 90'x40' or 80'x30'... but I'm just guessing.

I called the store and they said it was 96x48.
Or at least that is what I remember.

Yup... definately flying down that 96' strait. The people that gear the crap out of their car can eat you alive on that strait. But they pay for it on the rest of the track unless they can carry a lot of speed in the turns and stay pretty strait through the S's. When I try to go through the S's stait I'm usually up in the hobby shop buying a-arms a few minutes later.
