Having a Nosram version in my hot little hand, couple of questions when the motor is set to 0deg (using the plastic spacers) is that actually 0 degrees timing on the motor? or is this a nominal 0 that actually has some built in advance?

So is this esc still going to come out this month?

And is the esc like the normal sxx. Or the tc spec where the heat sink is permanently attached?

Only time will tell. I just checked that US site via (RC10dotcom) , they still dont even show it.

Hope to see one soon. I have always liked these big blue things.

Okay, I'm here at the track running this new X12 13.5. I decided to throw caution to the wind and use profile 7 on the SPX in spite of what the instructions said to the contrary. I geared it at a 7.9, and after two minutes, even with a high RPM 30mm muchmore fan, it came off at 180. It was also fast like my 7.5. It's starting to look like the high RPM profiles really aren't an option with this motor. Gonna keep trying on some lower profiles.

one of the AE guys that used the X-12 13.5 here was on profile 6 with his SPX. his set up is on the AE site. look for the West Coast set up for Sean Cochran.

Any idea what his FDR was? This thing is stupid fast, like cheating fast on profile 7, but it'll melt in a minute without a fan. This is a very different motor than we're used to.

Hey Adam,

Run at least the -5 insert and maybe the -10 depending on the track size. Sean uses profile 6 and around a 6.5FDR on an asphalt track. It will ran 200 no problem. I ran mine at cleveland around 230 all week. It did start to fall off the last couple of laps though pretty hard.

Does the stock spec sxx have the advanced timing nonsence that the spx has?

I would look but it's a far too daunting task at 3:40am!

Okay, last run of the night I put the oooo insert in, which I think is the -10 and geared at a 6.63. It was WAY slow, like worse than a 17.5. It came off at like 100 after 7 minutes.

So, I guess I'll keep gearing up from there and see how things feel.

If someone put this motor in and left their ESC on the profile from their last motor, it's going to catch on fire in the first minute. But man, if we can find a way to make them that fast for 6 minutes, this motor is a game changer.

I really liked the power band, it was nice and smooth and felt like it had good power all over. I still need to figure out the gearing to get it on pace with my old DUO's, but I think it's got some promise.

So if the trend becomes to make motors that don't/can't work with the aggressive timing speed controls, where does that leave us? Back using our TC Specs? As it stands now, if I can make this thing fast on the lower profiles, I'll probably just skip the new SXX and stick with what I've got.

The SXX stock spec is for stock racing, so yes it will have stock programs with advanced timing....

Default X-12 Motor Temps

You guys who have already ran the new x-12 stock spec motors, have you noticed that they run hottor that your previous motors? I just got my x-12 13.5 but haven't had a chance to run it yet. I had a Duo 2 13.5 with a 6.2 FDR and ran around 150F.
