Also, how compatible is the 04 chassis with brushless? I haven't compared brushless/brushed cans and am wondering if there is room. I love my 04 but I am ready to move on to brushless/lipo technology and am afraid the car will not allow it...any suggestions welcome!

I run an Orion Carbon 3200 in my FK04. I put it down the left side of the chassis. This requires some minor grinding on the bulkheads and on one of the hinge pin holders. I screwed some small bits of fiberglass to the chassis to prevent side-to-side movement of the pack when it is taped in place. Front to rear movement is no problem! Cheers,

Where do you run the tape? Did you cut a slot in the front or just run it through the first battery slot? I'd love to see pics of the setup because I can't figure it out just looking at my car!

Well I'm not Mark but I did the same thing(except I have'nt added the side bracing yet) on my EVOII. Pics of the 3200 in the car and also of the area that I had to clearance on the bulkheads. I can fit a buddys max-amps saddle pack in the factory straps np. This is the pack he runs in his B44 but I don;t know if its on the approved ROAR list or not, pics of that also here.

I used MaxAmp 4400 lipo's while bashing around, for a month. Mounted on with Scotch Foam Mounting Squares(Dble-sided tape) from Office Depot. Work well!
As stated b4, Trakpower saddlebacks are the only lipo's saddleback that are approved by ROAR. I'll use the Scotch Square again to mount them. I dont expect any problems with them either.

Thanks for the pics chris but how do you strap it in? I don't see anywhere to run tape!

I ran the tape through the last and first slots, not perfect but the battery is a tight fit and with the standoffs in place it has stayed securely in place.

Im racing 27t stock class and should I get rid of the one way diff and replace it with a ball diff? so I can use brakes also what sort of rubber tires do you recommend? Im using take off 22s as the track gets cold in the winter and for the next summer series im thinking of running Much More 32s are these anygood? all help is appreciated.

Are you running on Asphalt or carpet? A Spool would actually be the way to go on asphalt, but for stock I always prefer a oneway on carpet. If you are having problems on carpet than it is probably a setup issue cause you don't want anything slowing the car down on carpet. Tire wise I am a big fan of the Sorex tires, usually 28's or 24's on carpet and 32's or 36's with warmers on asphalt. Hope this helps.

Anyone tried some of the newer Lipo's in the Evo/FK04? I'm hoping the new SMC saddles will fit!

Here's a question for you guys running brushless in your T1's (Chris I'm looking at you)...what spur are you running to get the low FDR's required by brushless? Santa brought me a Speed Passion combo and I was told to start around 4.50 FDR, and the limited motor adjustability is driving me nuts! A smidge too high and the rear belt rubs the can, a smidge too low and the can rubs the pavement. Im running the low-ratio pulleys (32/18 1.77) so I'm looking for around 2.54 spur/pinion ratio. For reference, I ran 124/37 with my CO27 (64P obviously lol).

I have a T1 w/ brushless set up, used for testing only.

Set up Tekins RSPro, w/ Redline 2.5 KV motor
Stock 93T spur
24T pinion.
Motor Dia. 35.85mm/1.41"
Motor Length 2.09"/53mm
FDR 2.125
Lipo 4.4mah Saddlebacks by MaxAmp

Had to Dremel the chassis to accomodate the motor for endbell and for room for the belt. Approximatly 1mm gap bewtween belt & can of motor. Motor Can doesn't go below the chassis.

Gear ratio @ 3.875. Vehicle is fast on str8ts. T1 is used for testing ESC and motors only.

T1 ratio different for the T1EVO/T1FK's. I'm useing on a T1 stock 2.125FDR. Use the gearcart to figure your ratio. Useing the CO27 in referance can't be done, cuz I'm useing a Mod Brushless 2.5KV, Not a stock 27T CO motor. Isn't the CO27 a truck motor??
