Neil is correct.

Are you on foams or rubber?

For foams, a good starting point it about a 1" rollout for a Monster. About 1.2" for a torque motor. About .95"-.98 for more bottom end on a monster.

I try to gear for punch, top end and motor temp. the motor should be warm but not hot after the run.

I posted rollout tables are a few pages back. (maybe 10ish?)

Default shock tower

Hi racers, I have the ev02 foc with the stock shock towers and run foams, what
would you suggest do I stay with the shock towers that comes with the kit or
get the other shock towers, what is the
difference in handling? if not what is it for?
I am lazy to stroll through this large list
thank you.

I bought a used XRay that had them in there. They definately are smooth. Keep them clean and they will run perfect.

As far as a good starting point for stock motors, it depends mainly on two factors: 1) Type of stock motor. Stock motors are generally categorized into three types; torque, midrange, rpm. You would gear up for a torque motor (ie P2K), gear down for a rpm motor (ie monster, outlaw), and somewhere in between for midrange motors (ie P2K2, core). 2) Track size. If the track is short and twisty, then you may want to gear down for better acceleration. If the track is more wide open, then add a tooth or two for better top end speed.

I run the Putnum stock monster, and the gearing would fall between 7.3-7.6 FDR (track dependent).

You figure out the pinion, here is the formula:

[spur/FDR] X IDR = pinion

for the front, xray sells a foam shock tower. It is made so that you can run your foams smaller. With the stock one, you will not be able to get the right height down to what you would normally run on carpet once your tires get small.

even running takeoff rubber, you will want to know final drive. So use the equation that was posted

OK then - what pullys are you running? We need to know or we can't help you. (especially if you won't do the math yourself )

If you don't know what type of pulleys, then which car is it? T1R, or Evo2 Freedom of Choice?

Or if that info is not able to be gotten, then a good starting point for any stock motor on any track would be the recommendations in the xray books you got with the kit.
