I don't have the manual in front of me, but if it says to check for freeness in the car it's probably a locked rotor detection. Could be the sensor cable.

All my gear is new so I hope its not the motor, I may try to re-attach the sensor wire.

Any word on the fan? Is it a constant or does it only turn on when needed?

The transmission is a TC4, extremely free, and the gear mesh is set to just click at the high spot in the spur so there is no bind in the car. MY FDR is 7.0 since I was using 20% timing advance and boost at 200ms on a small-ish 65x36 so I don't think i'm over-geared. I'll fiddle with it but most concerned over whether the fan is working or not right now.

Greg

the fan should be constant.(just hooked mine up). What is the wind of your motor? have you temped the motor after a run?

My fan is constant as well.

And if you guys dont mind, is "boost" different than setting the timing level? Is it ok to use both together?

From what I read in the program, boost happens only at full throttle and the timing advance happens during the rpm chosen on rpm select??? Is this correct???

And if so, if 55 degrees is used as the timing setting, from the way its written no more advance could be added, right?

Thank You...One of these days I'll stop with the questions.

Timing is based on the RPM range that you set. If you use the boost that gives you max Timing which is a fixed 60 degrees after the time is over at full throttle.

it is my understanding that boost(60 timing) is applied at full throttle after ur set delay. regardless of timing selected and set rpm range. say u set ur speedo at 45timing ur start and end at 5000/15000. once full throttle is applied/after ur set delay the speedo changes the timing to 60 no matter where u are in ur RPM range. so lets say boost kicks in at 12000 rpm it would read like this 45 from 5000-12000 then 60 from 12000-15000. hope that makes sense

We are compiling a FAQ section for both our Kinetic controllers and the NovaLink software. If anyone has suggestions for Q/A to add, please post them here. I also want to say "Thanks" to those of you who have taken the time to help customers resolve thorny set-up issues.

We continue to add clarifications to our NL operating instructions to help users avoid some of the confusion---of course, that means racers will need to read them.... We have added a NL Quick Start guide and "bug fix" page and we are working on a graphical update to our programming interface to make it a little more visually appealing and intuitive to use.
