I'm not sure on that as I don't know what all is changed up to enable the Xdrive. The Kinetic line was originally designed with the 2 boards, one with the fets and the other being the brain board. Not sure if Xdrive is different fets, but if the same, one would think this could be a brain board upgrade.........but this is just speculation on my part.

I do know that the Kinetic Spec is a Xdrive speed control.

Novak's site, if you go to shop and try to buy a Kinetic 2S, it doesn't even show up. They must be rolling out a new Kinetic 2S or ?

Cool

Maybe the xdrive is not the only thing Novak got in store for us ! 2.5T motor capabilities with boost would be nice too...lol... Anyways I am cancelling my kinetic 2S order until further notice.... Hopefully they'll release their new ESC before summer 2012 ....

Don't know about 2.5...........the Kinetic Spec has the new Xdrive and is virtually the same as the K2S was for computer interface. The Havoc Pro SC is also a Xdrive and has all the same features of the K Spec, but is all done via button on the switch. I think that eventually the plan is to get away from computer interface programming and have it all button input, similar to the blue guys, but with a lot more input adjustments.

That's how it was before the Kinetic came out. So the computer interface was short lived.

Computer interface is not going away. There are firmware updates, data logging features, and there are settings, which will not be doable with a few buttons.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

If you want data logging use a Sentry, thats been around for a long time, and there is no plans to integrate that into a speed control. The only guys working on some data logging are the SP guys that I know of, and they have been working on that for a long time.

Should be some interesting new things coming out in the near future.

i installed the newest software(1.4.3), installed the drivers, updated the ESC and all that. novalink software loads but when i try to change any settings, i get an unhandled exception error. i cant save a profile because that also gives me the unhandled exception error. i've read through this thread and tried a lot of what was suggested but nothing works. im using windows xp 32 bit, .net framework 4.0

funny thing is, im a tech guy and i cant get this thing to work lol

So my kinetic died last night. It was having some really odd behaviour, stuttering at certain mid-throttle levels and cutting out completely after less than 1 lap. I tried no-timing mode and replaced the sensor wire to no effect. Then after more fiddling it quit running altogether.

The LEDs are solid red+green which according to the instructions indicates signal harness. I've checked from the receiver plug to the underside of the Kinetic board where the signal harness header is soldered. All 3 wires check out at 0 Ohms. Also, the receiver works with another ESC. I can no longer connect via Novalink as well, so it would seem that the signal input has indeed failed even though the wiring checks out.

I bought it in March of 2011 so it's outside the warranty period. However, it only has about 10 race days of 21.5 and 17.5 blinky, so that's pretty disappointing. Last night was the first attempt at 17.5 boosted 1/12. I went through the Novalink Device Update and the ESC firmware update procedures which is about when it started flaking out, so I guess that may be related.
