From the desk of CS, I would try this first.

"I've had guys report they get locked out of the RPM range, what we did to fix was simple. Reset the one touch, re-did the firmware update, reset the one touch again, and Bam, it works like magic.

For the most part, the one touch clears the ESC out, so if you run into goofy issues, it's a good idea to very simply re-do the one touch and start fresh. Takes all of a few seconds."

If this doesn't fix it up contact Charlie directly via [email protected]

Dear all,
I encountered a random issue with the LiPo/LiFe cutoff, as follows:

- randomly, using a fully loaded battery pack , the car would stop very suddenly. The error reported by Kinetic ESC is Red and Yellow blinking LEDs. It would re-engaged after 5 to 30 seconds.

After checking the motor, my Ballistic 6.5T static motor timing was wrongly set to lowest setting "-".
I reset the static motor timing to middle position "N" as recommanded by Novak:

"When using an ESC that features electronic timing advance (boost or power setting) and a Ballistic motor, the static timing setting should be left at the factory set "N" position"

Everything is back to normal, cutoff is very smooth, car is slowing down for few seconds before cutoff.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/radio-el...hless-esc.html NEW ESC INFO.

The motor can be set below n or 30, just not off the label on the "-" mark. That is below 0 and will cause severe misfiring. This will cause super high loads, and make the ESC draw lots of current from your battery pack, and trick the ESC into thinking the battery is dead.

I recently installed the new brain board. I am trying to install the novalink and update to the latest firmware. By the way never used a kinetic before. So....

Do i need the esc connected to a receiver, motor & battery source?

I installed Novalink 1.4.3 but cannot update esc. Esc seem not to be detected. Is it due to no power source?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Default How does the kinetic stack up?

I run 13.5 and wanted to know how this speedo stacks up against the following:

HOBBYWING (WHICH I HAVE)
LRP/NOSRAM STOCK SPEC V2
ORCA
GM
TEKIN

I am thinking about getting a new esc.

The Novak Kinetic is the most adjustable in the bunch. It's footprint, although not the biggest in the bunch, is on the large side. If you get the NovaLink with it you find it to be the most useable and most versatile.

Tekin and then LRP are the best of the 5 on your list. I run 13.5 and have used both prior to using a Kinetic's. I prefer the Kinetic

Default Timing set points

Okay so I've got to the following setup with my Kinetic and TCX with a 10.5 GM motor.

Timing 50
Start RPM 9000
End RPM 22000
No Boost
current limiter 3
FDR 6.8

The fastest 10.5 guys are still ripping past me on the straight.

I was thinking of moving towards the following as this is what they tell me they're running and it's nearer the team Novak settings posted way back.

Timing 50
Start RPM 4500
End RPM 12200
No Boost
current limiter 1
FDR 7.2

I'm going to test it a lot first and perhaps start with a lower timing value. It kind of feels wrong putting the start RPM and end RPM so low but I simply need more speed down the straight.

I know it comes down to driving but recently I set a new PB and nearly all of my laps were as good as I could make them My fastest being 16.32, most in the A final are setting 14.52 as their fastest laps. I'm sure some of it is to do with the speed they are able to get down the straight.

Anyone have any thoughts to the proposed new settings?

I have one word....TURBO.

I tried the settings above and didn't really go any faster it just created more heat as I guessed it would.

So I went back to 55 timing start RPM 9000 End RPM 18000 and FDR of 7.04 and enabled Boost with a delay of 1200ms. Bingo! The speed down the straight was excellent and the snap on the infield was great plus temps were much better. ESC was 80c and motor was 74c after a 5 minute run.

I reduced the boost delay to 800ms and the speed was even better down the straight with no increase in temps. I felt I could probably gear down to 7.24 and benefit on the infield and get better pace down the straight with the turbo.

So happy with the kinetic now
