If you want realism, what are we doing with batteries and an electric motor? what you need is a scale 4 stroke gasoline engine.

And I can't remember the last time real life cars ever raced on a carpet surface......

didn't have time to read all the posts but, i think the guy has a point bring realism to the hobby, make every to scale so the toy cars we race actually look like cars we drive, i think we should even make the speed real scale too. i mean how stupid is it that our cars have a actual scale speed of over 300 mph on some courses. maybe someone could come up with a governor system that would only allow the car to go as fast as the real car body we have mounted. yea thats the ticket only kidding just wasting time like everyone else

Oddly the best 1/12th scale bodies available are based "loosely" on the Bentley Speed 8, making 1/12th scale far more "in-touch with real racing" than TC drivers using a Stratus that hasn't been raced since like '96 or better yet a Stratus 2.0 that never raced at all. If you want to race realistic scale models then by all means run in Tamiya series, or run Mini-Z's. THE MOST POPULAR CLASS OF R/C RACING ON THE PLANET IS 2WD OFF-ROAD!!! Nobody ever clamors for them skinny up, run 4 smaller shocks on each corner instead of 1 large volume shock, go back to high-profile tires, etc etc. I guess we should probably slow these things down too. I mean for the sake of realism, we shouldn't have 10th scale cars running at 10th scale speeds of 300+mph!!!! Realism is for static modellers. FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION, especially in racing.

As long as you are into making it more realistic, let down the 1/10th cars down to 12 mph and the lanes to 4ft. Both of those are scale sizes and speeds for 1/10th.

The rules are their for guidelines. If we don't like the rules for a certain class then run another class or type of racing that suites more to the rules you want to see. That is the beauty of having so many kinds of racing. Offroad (Trucks, Cars, Monster Trucks, Mini T's) then 1/12 th scale stock or mod, Pan car oval with about 4 different classes, dirtoval with many differnt classes and then touring car. If you can't find one class that suits the rules you are looking then you might need a new hobby. With all those choices one should suit you.

If you breakdown the classes anymore you will soon start seeing 2 or 3 cars in each class and thats no fun and not worth me even draggin out all my stuff to race against 3 guys. The more you chop up classes the less you will have racing anyone class.

I just can't beleive that their isn't a class to suite everyone.

The only changes that should be made are the ones that will attract more people to the sport. The main factor that infuences people is money. Asking any sactioning body to make changes that will drive costs even higher is just asking more people to leave the hobby, not to join it.

I race nitro more often than electric, and everytime someone wanders over to the track, watches for a few minutes, then comes over to ask about what they are seeing says the same thing. These things are really cool, how much does one of these things cost? Most people almost faint when told what they will need to spend to be able to race competetively. That is not any way to interest a new prospect.

The body's are not what needs to be more realistic or attractive, its the price.

Umm, the whole scale speed point is dumb....speed is speed, you can't scale it down or up.....30 mph is 30 mph.


I make more money than the average joe, but even I am not willing to buy tamiya bodies.....I beat the living crap out of losi or protoform bodies.....scary to think what I would do to a $50 body with bumpers and side mirrors.

And in the end, chicks dig winning......so go ahead and use a realistic body and finish in the B-main. The dude running the protoform on the podium will get the chicks.......(yes there are chicks in RC now....anyone at snowbirds knows this).

Agreed. I would LOVE to race my tamiya f201, but it is not that popular around here, so it sits on my shelf getting bling bling added to it every now and then. I don't really care for carpet touring car, but I race it because it's the only game in town.

I'd like to see more scale realism, but honestly, these things get tore up way to easily to have to keep a perfectly maintained scale body all the time. Plus, as wyd says, I'd much rather race against 20-30 people in the popular class than 4 or 5 in the "unique" class.

I am married....could care less about chicks. People have commented on chicks earlier in the thread, but like I said, there was some HOT chicks at snowbirds.....some guy from europe had a hot chick who even worked on his CAR!

And if I REALLY wanted to pick up chicks, its not hard in my ferrari.....
