Default HELP!! Calling all Novak Slydr USERS

I have the Novak Slydr 6.5 System. Here's the deal.. I run the car for about 5 minutes then the car dies. I only get a servo response. No throttle. I turn the ESC off & turn it back on & the car comes to life again. I thought it was something thermal.. But the system is only warm not excessively HOT. I'm a newbie at brushless & this is my first system. So go easy on me

I'm running a 5000nimh 6 cell.

I think its setup for Lipos cause the dude I bought it from used lipos on everything he owned. He kept swearing by them..

Thanks for the reply! Much appreciated.

Yeah I'm going to do that tonight when I take her out. I'll let you know how it goes. I swear by Novak & Tekin. Only ESC's i'll use.

Thumbs down

I fail to understand why Novak has not fixed this problem for good with not only this speed controller but with the Havoc's as well.
I had this same issue with two Havoc's LAST FEBRUARY!!!!! and STILL they are having the SAME issues.
After using Novak's for over 26 years, I gave up and switched to the LRP's and now maybe to the Tekin.

What problem is that Bob?

Novaks are awesome! Even if you do get a bad apple every once in awhile. I've only had one Novak Explorer II go out on me. I think its cause I hooked up a 10T to it lol.

Alright.. Here's the deal.. I turned off the lipo cutoff but i'm having the same issues. Also, I turned reverse on & it does not work. Only has forward. Now when the car dies there is a red & amber light on.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Because I am not part of Novak's technical support group, I would advise to email [email protected] with your question. Before emailing, take a moment to review the instructions originally included with your Novak Item:

Novak Instruction Downloads

Quote:
Please make your initial email as detailed as possible. Include:

~ warranty claim?
~ speed control (brand/model)
~ motor (brand/wind)
~ rotor (old/new)
~ connectors used
~ servo (brand/model)
~ radio system (receiver/transmitter)
~ vehicle & gearing
~ battery, brand (c rating/capacity)
~ any external modules (BEC/brand, Glitch Buster)
~ other important info: water damage, corrosive chemical sprays, excess heat, etc

The more information you provide in your first email, the more quickly tech support can offer you assistance.

Slashmaster51;
Had the same problem you are having with the controller shutting down after 3-4 min.
This happened on not one, but two Havocs. They were used in a USVTA car with the Novak 21.5 motor. Never got the motor above 130.

Really didn't want to spend even more money on the postage to get these fixed and have the additional down time while waiting for them to be returned so a friend bought them and was going to send them in.
This was back in February of this year and now some 9 months later the same problem is still hapening!!!

I don't have a slyder but a gtb spectrum esc and 6.5t velociti and had a very similar issue. this worked for me but it may have been a coincidence... I had my drag brake at full and I adjusted it down two levels and no more sudden lost of power.

Thanks Bob,

I kinda figured this would be common with a $300 system

I have an 8.5 novak motor and got the novak velociti heatsink and put it on but I put it on too much one way and now I cant rotate the motor to fit smaller pinions

and this heatsink is way too hard to move it or rotate it

is there anything I can use to make it lubricated or oiled up so its easier to rotate?

its too far to the right and when its mounted it hits my chassis
