Tire traction compound for rubber tires
What's the best "sauce" to use on rubber tires for asphalt?
|
I've had good luck with Paragon Ground Effects. I clean tires with lighter fluid and apply sauce just before I race.

I just clean mine with Simple green but we do run on a prayed track.

Anyone know what the active ingredient in traction compound is?? It has to be something with a petroleum product but what??
With that said, how do you break in new rubber tires?? |
Jack the Gripper compound works really well for us when we run on carpet.
And also we use tire tweak and buggy grip for out asphalt tracks |
I've been using the acute asphalt from Much More. It's oderless and seems to penetrate the rubber.

95% of the time I just run the tires in. On carpet, about 30 laps and the tires start producing their best times. |
Not to complicate things, but I've spent the last year here in Korea running with these guys, and really, the choice of tire sauce depends on the tire, temp, humidity, and track surface. Also, the car will perform differently based on how long you leave the compound on, and the amount of time cooked in the warmers.
However, with all that said, Paragon FX2 is a great all around sauce that is pretty universal. |

Try WD40, it works quite well and stays consistant.:batman:

I ran FX2 for the first time this weekend and really liked it. This was on a large parking lot asphalt track that was between 130 and 140 F. Cleaned with buggy grip after the run, and then sauced with FX2 for about 15 minutes with no warmers.

I run new glued tyres for about 5 laps to scrub them in. I then use Simple green to clean the tyres up and once that's dry I like Much more acute wiped on about 20 minutes before your run. Unless its really cold i dont bother baking just wipe dry if it has not all soaked in. I use minimal Acute as i dont like wasting something that is hard to get sometimes. Makes the tyres nice and consistent all run. When coming up to another race day and the tyres have not been used for more than a week i will clean them the night before and treat them a bit heavier with the acute and let them dry overnight in a zip lock bag. Im getting 40 to 50 runs on a set of rears and up to 30 on fronts on a painted asphalt surface which i think is awesome.
