With a Diff the car will steer in a lot better, but because of the potential of slipping, the Diff doesn't always help the car pull out of the corner, where a spool puts down all the power you apply.

I'd be interested to see how well it works if someone puts one of these gear diffs in the front of their T3 with some 200K or 300K oil...

HPI6548 is the Pink spring, which some guys use for the front. I've never used any other HPI spring, so not sure about others.

I keep hearing about these gear diffs, what is the news on them are they superior? Where can you buy them?

Ball diffs will slip as they rely purely on the friction between the balls and rings for power transfer. A gear diff wouldn't allow for loss of power put down unless you got the inside wheel light enough to where it would spin up. Open gear differentials will bias torque to the wheel with least traction. You wouldn't need 200k+ oil to prevent that, perhaps only 50-100k tops. A light-weight torsen differential would be fun to have though, as it biases torque to the wheel with most traction.

i think if you are running it in the rear somewhere between 1k-5k oil would be the answer. I agree on trying it in the front with heavier oil, i hope the seals are good, i always hated leaking front diff o-rings in 1:8 offroad. The inside front can really unload on power around sweepers.

I should have a couple to try in 2 weeks.

Need some input here fellas.

I'm currently in the running a Cyclone TC that I bought sealed and put together myself. I planned on using this car to compete at my local track. Upgraded to DCJ dogbones and the car runs great! However after running a friends T1 EVO2 i've decided that the T3 is a better comp car. Can you give me some pro's and con's with this car and what should be purchased as spare parts?

No doubt a gear diff up front would require some setup adjustments to make it work. 200K was just a shot in the dark based on what guys are doing with the NT1 and I wouldn't doubt we could get away with a lighter oil. Just throwing the thought out there as it could be something to seriously look into. Unfortunately I don't have the time or ability to test these things like I'd want to.

I'm definitely interested to hear any feedback anyone has from testing something like this.

Since we're on the topic of hpi springs, are the all gold spring the same rate as the black with gold paint? It's the same part number but just want to make sure nothing changed when they switched to black. Thanks.

What about the Tamiya 84008. A lot of people are running these and seem to like them. Does anyone have them and can you report on what you like about them?
