Default Xray T3 US Foam set-up (2010)

Hello all.

I am running on a relatively technical indoor carpet track with on one 20m straight ending in a long sweeping curve. The total length of the track is apx. 100m.

I have problem finding any set-up sheets for the US Foam edition. As of now I am running the basic setup and it is quite OK, but I feel there is room for improvement. It is quite good in the slower technical parts of the track but I feel that it under steers (pushes) when I go off the power in the some of the high speed corners

I have been using the Gecko Low Profile 1/10 Electric Sedan tires (28mm) 35-37 shore in the rear and 37-40 in the front (turned down to 59mm). Traction compound full with rear and inner half of front tires. Power is from a Tekin RS Pro and Tekin Redline S 10.5T on 2 cell lipo (45C). Roll-out is about 23mm as of now (FDR 7.98).

I hope someone can point me to alternative setup sheets and/or give me some thought about what you have found to be working best.

Regards Ronny

Just building the alloy shocks and wondered the Pro's/Con's of installing the foam inserts.
I have put them in as the manual says to do so but have heard of guys not running with them, but dont know if it affects the rebound or something.

They act as volume compensators. They also affect rebound. I only ran them on Asphalt or low-traction conditions.

Yes! Use shrink wrap around the coupling to help secure the drive pins.

Many commented T3 runs well with TRF Shocks. How do you get it to run on TRF Shocks? Any pics?

I would recomend picking up a xxx main set up book its a little out dated but still very informative and more detailed than the xray book. I can never find others set ups that work for me so i keep changing things till the car does what i want. Good luck.

you use the xray shock end screwed onto the tamiya shocks and some guys drill out the cap and use the plastic top mount as well

I would try the new t3 2011 bladders in your current shocks before you switch, they pretty much make the xray shocks the same a tamiya especially the xray aluminum ones

try using 30-35 shore tires front and rear. you should try and get the bigger rim tires if possible they produce more traction and corner speed. hope this helps

Thanks for the advice.

I suspect I will have to dig even deeper into the theory of setting up the cars. So far I have only done two full seasons of racing (1/10 touring in the winter and 1/8 buggy in the summer) and still have lots to learn.

I usually run the larger dia. rims already, but I might try with some softer tires.
