Default Good Overseas mail order shops

I'm in the US, and the prices here for some r/c stuff (namely Tamiya) are ridiculous. They are in some cases double the retail price in japan... so can anyone suggest some good mail order shops where I can get much better prices? I know of RainbowTen, ControlCentre... what else? Thanks!!

PS Is the shipping cost reasonable?

How is RainbowTen's service? Anyone ordered from them before? How is the overseas shipping?

It's good. I'd place a fairly healthy order to keep the cost of shipping down. Remember, there's no UPS Ground service available from Japan.

Actually, you might want to check out www.formula1-rc.com They have a how-to on ordering from Rainbow Ten that should make your life easier.

cool, thanks for the info psycho! So shipping price doesn't increase much with order size? Is it by weight, volume?

It's a combination of weight and size of the box. My group ordered 4 cars from Hobbynet about a year ago. If we ordered 1 car, the shipping was $60. 4 cars was $80 so it made more sense to buy them together and only pay $20/ea for shipping. I guess there is also the psychological part of it that makes you feel like crap when you pay $20 in shipping for a $14 part. I feel a lot better paying $30 in shipping for a $200 item.

Depends on the weight, but shipping does make it prohibitive unless you save a lot on the item. It's always air freight, so at least you don't have to wait long for your order!
