Talking Tamiya Buggy Champ ESC/Motor Choice

Ok, finally got one. Had been thinking left and right, hoping they'd redo the Sand Scorcher (yes, the one we ALL are waiting for).

Anyway, can anyone share what motor/ESC combos you are using? I notice the chassis is "enclosed". Also is it worth a try to use Lipo?

Still starring at the box right now. Can't wait to start building.

I haven't built one of these, but have friends who have. Most I have talked to use either the silver can motor or maybe the sport tuned. One thing is for sure, there is no point in putting some fast motor in these things. The suspension and such isn't up to it so it would just be a waste and probably wouldn't hold up to the abuse anyway. These are pretty much just for looking cool cruising around the beach etc. LIke you I hope for the sand scorcher release! Does anyone have any more word whether tamiya will do it in time for christmas or not?

Mine is basically a shelf queen now I did a few laps in front of my house with it. be careful as it rolls easy. I put a novak xrs in mine. It does not get hot much..heck...it barely gets warm and it only costs around 50$. stock motor.
In regards to the sand scorcher........watch for the suprise releases at the opening of the all japan show next week I have my fingers crossed
