Default Lipo Question

Alright, I've left mt TC all summer without any charging of the Lipo batteries, as they are not supposed to loose power. Anyhow I am going to charge them up to test my TC, so I connect them to my Duratrax ICE charger and put the settings to:

LIPO
7.4V
4000
4 amps

Press go and the ICE says "Lipo output voltage is lower then the selected number of cells". And it will not charge them.

Does this mean I have to go and buy all new Lipo's? There should be a way to give it a charge and check out the packs, but I can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.

You can try this, but be very careful:

Put your charger in ni-mh mode, start charging and constantly check the pack voltage, when it reaches 6.1-6.2V STOP charging immediatly.

Then you can try to charge it as usual in Lipo mode.

Also check to make sure you selected 2S and not 3S.

I can not find a "s" setting on the ICE.

He means check the voltage that it's supposed to charge at. Make sure it's set at 7.4v instead of 11.1 or 14.8v. Maybe you charged your starter box last?

Worse comes to worse, I have a battery I could lend you until you replace yours if you can't get them charged up.

On the ice it's called "total voltage", it should be 7.4V for a 2S (2 cells) lipo pack.

If you left it plugged in your pack is probably done. I killed a pack that way. Was able to revive it enough to race one day, but it puffed as soon as I let it sit. Seems the ESC's have a slight draw even when turned off. Will slowly discharge the pack all the way down.

I have had a little luck charging one cell at a time in a 2s pack to bring it back. What I did was use a male fan plug from a computer and it fit in the balance plug and you start at the red wire and the first black and that is one cell and so on through all the cells. Need to charge as a 1s pack. I do that till I get each a little above 3v and then start to charge as a regular 2s

Well I used this method and it seemed to get the pack in order. I guess I'll find out on practice night.

Thanks!
