I bought a used 21.5.
My endbell is black, not green.
What do I do?
Does it matter?

I took it apart to make sure the coil's werent burned out, but I cant put the motor back together!

For some reason the front endbell wont close 100% tight.

They front endbell is a hair off from a tight fit, so the purple ring free wheels...

any help is appriciated!

Hey steve the 21.5 motor that I sold you was originally purchased by me from pablo101

the thread above shows pictures of what everything looked like prior to when I bought it, it had the black timing ring on it when I purchased it

note: I purchased everything you see in that thread from him as a package

the older ones were all black. big deal. the green ones just signify which motor it is easily. nothing different between them. unless you have the unsintered rotor.

Perfect, just wanted to know if they did come in black at one time.

My motor wont close shut now after I opened it to check internals, what could be wrong? There is a hairline gap so the purple ring can free-wheel. And I took the rotor out and hand shut it to see if it was the rotor that wasnt installed in all the way, but it wont close completely shut enough to pinch the purple ring even without the rotor

I was just worried that I messed something up when i dissassembled, since my other novak bl motors purple rings are tight.

I guess it's fine

Put some CPU thermal paster under the ring and spin it around to smear it well.

All the original SS motors had black rings.

We were the first BL motor company to offer these motors with what are now considered "spec" winds. At first, there was no ROAR interest, or rules, for spec events. The colored rings were added later to distinguish the motors once ROAR approved rules for these events.

Here is a link to a "How To" for cleaning BL motors that you may find helpful:

How to Maintain Your BL Motor
