How people are doing with LRP in 1s, as in performance, or how well does the LRP stuff work?

The SPX worked and performed great for a few months for me. I had two LRP SPX's being used in my WGT and 13.5 1/12 cars with 1s LiPo batt's with a receiver battery or Novak Booster to the receiver for a 6.0v input to the ESC. After a few months I noticed the performance suddenly fell off. Subsequent bench testing showed that the advanced timing features in profile 6, 7, and 8 had quit working as they previously had. What the SPX did was basically was stop working like an SPX and start working like an older Sphere, which is strange.

I am going to check them out on a 2s battery to see if the SPX's just don't like the lower voltage from the 1s setup.

I have now pulled all my LRP ESC's and replaced them with Tekin RS's.

One thing I saw with a number of drivers in Vegas was the SC set up improperly for 1s.

Most important.... Do not run the speed control in lipo mode!
The lipo mode in the speed control is meant for 2s batteries and not 1s.
Be sure to use the Nimh setting or you will have performance issues, slow, shutting off, etc.

Most people that I saw were using Rx packs, but I have tested both a Novak booster and a Rx pack and had no problems either way.

Again very important if you run a Rx pack, do not turn on the SC switch!
Just use the Rx pack to turn the car on/off.

I have been running and old Sphere (pre lipo model) with a HobbyCity booster without any problems in my 12th scale car. I cut off the switch completely so I couldn't turn it on.

Thanks Sean for confirming that information.

I did switch from lipo to Nimh mode on my SPX on the second day at the IIC; but, did not notice any difference. Would typically come off the track at 3.7-3.8V with a TP5000 pack. Wouldn't the performance issue occur at 3.0V with 1S? Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested to hear more about that problem, if it's a speed control problem with all the spx unit's or if it's related to the use of 1s lipo batteries.
