I don't know how much revenue the IIC brings to the Riviera, but knowing Vegas where anything different and interesting is good for business, I would imagine another hotel would jump at the chance to steal [sorry, most suitable word] the right to hold next year's event.

I also hope insurance is forthcoming. I had a racing kart stolen from a trailer parked on my own property a few years ago, attached to the tow vehicle, and insurance jerked me around for a while but finally came through.

Punishments for a lot of crimes are too lax in this country, IMO. I bet if appendages were removed for convicted thieves, there would be less theft.

Without knowing the full story it's hard to figure out exactly what happened, but I'd really hesitate to immediately blame a racer or say this was an inside job. There is a lot of shady stuff that takes place in Vegas, like it or not, and with all of the people who have access to the ballroom and the cleanup process it would not surprise me at all if somebody just called a buddy and said "hey, easy mark, come and get it."

Speaking as somebody who had ALL of his personal RC equipment and most of his hobby shop stolen earlier this year, it DOES suck quite a bit and insurance is not very forthcoming, especially for a large amount. From what we learned from law enforcement during the process we went through, in the vast majority of the cases it is somebody just turning this stuff over for a very small amount of money, and rarely is it a targeted crime where somebody is looking for something in particular.

This is really sad to hear. Even if the insurance comes through eventually, its still a pain and will eat up a lot of time to deal with. Wish I could help in some way to lessen the burden that Scotty will have to bear in this. He works so hard to put on these races that I hate to see this extra part, that has happened again, take away from what is a great event for all of us.

Two years in a row time to move the race to new location. Maybe a more remote location. There a lot of nice hotels that would be happy to have the business.

My best friend had 100% of his RC gear stolen out of his car a number of years ago, so I know how devistating it can be! This is a shameful act, and hopefully insurance will man up and get you guys back to where you were.

Let us know if there is anything else us other racers can do. Maybe a description of what was actually taken?

I would hope anyone reading this is also reading about trailer security systems, there are many available on market.

Sucks without a doubt...
I have heard of many similar stories in very different events from RC, DB Drag car audio and many shooting events..
-A 35' enclosed trailer was stolen in KC from Bartell Hall with the competing car in it.
-World Skeet shooting in San Antonio has increased vehicle break ins during their October 14 day shoot...

As many people think vehicle security is often annoying....Wait till you lose everything one day and you will learn.

Sorry to hear about this lose.
Hope insurance covers it.

Scotty, I am one of the guys that run races here in vegas. Can you PM me the any transponder numbers so we can keep a look out for them. I would love to catch this person, and get as much of your stuff as we can.

The crew at Sin City RC will do everything we can to help find any and all of the stolen items.

From what I heard it wasn't from the Hotel's parking lot, but I might be mistaken.

Be on the look out for JACO BLUE"s as several dozen sets were included, as wells as the not yet released SPEED PASSION 17.5 motors.

The TECH TOOLS
The Marble Slate
The PA
The PC's and the Monitors
and the rest of the stuff stated.

Security camera's rarely tell you anything if they are not being viewed live by a person. They don't record high enough resolution to do jack squat.

Either what, it's super gay, F'ing Vegas......... Bastard ass meth heads....

Man, that really stinks. I hope they catch whoever did this. There is just no room for this kind of thing in our hobby. Money is just too tight for anyone to get anything stolen.
