Default Best car for 300.00 or less

What are some ideas for the best car for 300.00 or less. Planning on running rubber and I am kind of partial to Tamiya cars.

Is there any worry about the Xray T2R pro being discontinued any time soon? It seems they change cars about every year. Or are they compatible with parts from new models as they come out?

XRay's cars evolve more so then any thing else. The cars share alot of parts going from one model year to the next. So the T2R is a solid choice as it will be around and compatible for quite some time.

Whew....I am wondering, if you already have a preference for Tamiya, why would you even ask?

Now if you didn't already have something in your head, I would say take a look at the new OFNA JL10e, it is by far the best out of the box chassis I have ever owned, and believe me, I have had more than my fair share in the last 20+ years of running road type chassis.

My 2 worth!!

Oh, just FYI, I still own over 30 chassis, and run the JL10e exclusively.
( and before anyone says anything, the ABC Genitic uses almost all of the JL10e parts, so I consider it part of the family )

You can get a Robitronic AVID from www.speedtechrc.com for $269.99. It is a great carpet foam car, and rubber asphalt. You can get optional lower and upper chassis parts to make it adaptable for rubber carpet racing.

Robitronic also stocks some great springs that work with the car well. I am using all Robitronics gear on my car, minus the motor, servo, tires, ESC, and receiver.

$300 and below and prefer Tamiya.....very easy to answer.

TA05 Series (TA05R or TA05-IFS-R) for $300 you can even get some BLING for it....and if your friend say TA05R or TA05-IFSR is for newbie or no way to compete with $500 carbon fiber cars...they know absolutely nothing.

I don't need to say too much about this car...it can be indoor or outdoor, asphault or carpet, from stock to mod...like 1 car fits all.

I don't think TA05MS is worth it (with the carbon fiber chassis)...may be you should buy the TA05 Version II and spend the rest of the money for the Tamiya shocks and other blings.

Default a piece of advice

Which ever car you get, for your $300 budget, get the car used. You can usually get the car at about 40% with hopups. For your budget that means getting a used trf 416 vs a new ta05 for the same money (including hopups.)

In terms of which car to get overall, I would suggest an xray 008 or maybe a 009. You just can't beat the durability and quality of the xray cars.

If Tamiya is your preference, take a look at the TA05 Version 2 and the TB03 (towards the bottom of the page).

Don't let the price or the tub chassis fool you. They're very competitive cars. TRF driver, Jimmy Wright, is leading the RCGT Showdown point series with his near box stock TB03.
