As a case in point, go to RC10.com and look at a manual for the TC5 http://aedownloads.com/downloads/man...5ft_manual.pdf. That thing has more options for different spacers, shims, mounting locales, and odd widgets than I could hope to name.

the TC4 is a great car, no matter what you've been told. Put in a front spool (very easy to make by yourself from a steel front diff ,with cardboard so that you get a "slipper" spool which will prevent your cvd from breaking) and your car will be more than up to date for your level.

It is vEry adjustable and by no means less than a modern TC. The drivetrain is bulletproof and I would advise anyone to start racing with a tc3 or tc4. I myself use a tc3 to race, with quite more-than-decent results, even against the latest available chassis'.

Had my TC4 (RTR) since 2007. It still runs great and fast. I have a ton of new
spares for it, and a BL setup. Now Im dumping my TC5R, I hate doing diff and
bearing rebuilds often, got tired of baby sitting it cause it cant stand racing
in street conditions although it's also a nice kit.

semifast.......are you gonna run this at RC plus? if so, there's a guy down there that still runs a tc4. Granted, he's not at the driver skill of Devin or Tim or Tom C. that run there, but do the math $$$$$$$ tc4 vs. their current xray or schumacher.....this nimrod is only a lap or so off of their times....if you want to beat someone on the track, "Out Spend" them or "Out Practice" them!!!!!

Welcome to the neighborhood

as posted earlier and ALL throughout RC TECH the 'search' function works very well for finding the "WHICH ANYTHING OF THE WEEK IS BETTER" opinion threads.

Yes it is, but i'm updating it to a G-fon, because the older software wouldn't vibrate when you cranked in full punch and full timing at the same time.

Thank You, come again.

The TC5 and TC4 are completely different cars, the battery strap stands and camber links are some of the few parts that are still the same.
I do have nostagla for the TC4 as my first car is a FTTC4. TC4's are a good racer still a quite capable car in the right hands, but I changed to a TC5 FT due to a couple problems with my TC4.
As for adjustment I see no real difference between the TC4 and TC5, adjusting the TC4 is more annoying then anything else.

For a new guy, which would you recommend? I don't plan on racing, but it's always a possibility. Also, my concern is getting in over my head, adjustment wise. Is the maintenance as much as on a nitro car, on either of these? Meaning, am I gonna get a decent ride just running and basic maintenance, or will I have to go over it every time to get a good run?

Thank you for you previous insight.
