Go brushless for sure. LRPSPX or Tekin RS or RS pro ESC. What class are you going to run, it should be able to handle a 2.5-21.5 turn motor. If you are starting out, I would say go for 13.5 or 17.5 rubber.

I think it will go down to 4 turn. Any of the major brands are good. LRP, Tekin Novak,Team Orion, and Trinity.

The Tekin seems to work a bit better than the SPX with slow motors + it can be updated anytime. So it is your best choice, IMO ( I do not own any of these , I just recently gathered some info in order to buy a new ESC. You guessed my choice...)

For cheap the Yeah racing batteries seem hard to beat and perform very very decently, I'm told.

Servo : break you wallet, it is really worth it. KO 2413, Futaba 9551 or 9550.

17.5 or 13.5 rubber is indeed perfect for you. Just buy the Tekin combo with speedo, hotwire and motor.

Charger : I don't know. Seriously, the small Orion charger or any of its 474 clones will be more than sufficient.

I would not try to put anything faster than a 10.5 in a stock cyclone S. But with a few upgrades to the drivetrain ( diff outdrives maybe?) it should accept some wild motors.

Have fun.

the LRP will be a smoother more current ESC. There is nothing wrong with the novaks the LRPs are just a little more powerful smoother etc...

I say go with LRP.As for gearing, that depends on what motor you are running.

Hi Danny,

I running a Novak Havoc system(17.5) in my cyclone and I found that I needed to replace the 16t pulleys with 18t pulleys so I could get close to the correct FDR,at the moment I'm using a 90t spur and pinions ranging from 48t to 56t depending on the track.

If you choose to change pulleys you will also need to change belts to TC one's as well as they are 1t longer, hope this helps, cheers.
