Default 4 cell GTB

I am thinking of getting a novak 4cell GTB and I plan on using it in my 12th scale with a single cell smc 4000. Has this been a good choice for some of you? what are the ups and downs

It will work and one of the ups is that a booster or rec pack is not required, although you will see the servo get a bit slugish toward the end of the run without one. One big downside is that the esc is outdated and has no advanced timing abilities like the LRP or Tekin. The amount of disadvantage will depend on the skill levels and size of your home track.

We have announced our new, affordable Havoc 1S series of products customized for single cell racing:

Novak's Havoc 1S Systems

We will also offer a replacement plate for the Havoc esc, similar to the GTB-4 cell cooling plate.

The Havocs do not offer timing adjustments, but do feature the following extensive, on-board programming options:

On-board, user-friendly interface with nine adjustable parameters:

~Minimum Brake (10 settings from 0-27%)

~Drag Brake (10 settings from 0-27%)

~Dead Band (5 settings from 2-6%)

~Minimum Drive (5 settings from 1-5%)

~Throttle Curve (Linear and Expo)

~Brake Frequency (7 settings from 1-8 kHz)

~Reverse

~Motor Rotation

~Li-Po Cut-Off via Novak’s One-Touch™ button

When will we be seeing a new Novak product that will offer adjustable timing? I will most likely use my 4 cell GTB for the time being, but would really like to see a comparable product to Tekin and LRP with adjustable timing. I am overgearing my 1/12 while others are undergearing due to the adjustable timing. In the end I can take a win, but have no punch at all in the last 2 minutes of the run.

We discontinued the GTB-4 Cell speed control last year, although we are still offering it on our web site---both new and remanufactured. The Havoc 1S is more suitable to single cell racing (8.5 motor, and above) because of the built-in lipo cut-off and the booster circuitry.

Hey Mr NovakTwo,

Will the Havok 1S work with the ballistic series of motors? your post above leads me to believe it wont and will only work with the SS series (and their coat hanger stiff sensor wires.)
