After looking at both manuals, it is the same pivot ball PN 4019. They do offer a Hard Anodized pivot ball PN 40194

Hope this helps,
CD

You will need the new rear pod bottom plate with the two small holes located in the back of the plate and you will also need the micro aluminum left bulkhead.

The part numbers for these items can be found in the battle axe 2.0 manual published on crc's website.

Part numbers:

3351 - Plastic micro bilkhead

3353 - Aluminum micro bulkhead

1766 - Bottom plate

3290 - Encore Shock

The shock is not needed for the conversion, use can use your existing Dura-Shock if you want by trimming a little off the ballcups to shorten the shock a little.

All parts are in stock at www.teamcrc.com

I'm still using the old one. There is no advantage to the new one.

The molded pivot is nice because of the adjustability. You can always keep the fit of the ball perfect, so in that regard it is better than the old one.

Gotta have- not really

Nice to have - yes

Hey there guys. Just finished putting the kit together and noticed two things. 1) no matter how tight I tighten the front axle lock nuts I can't seem to stop the tire from sliding side to side. I have 2 spacers on the inside of the wheel and 2 on the outside and it still slides a little side to side. Do I need to order more spacers to put on the outside? 2) I have tried so hard to get the springs on the perches and I just can't seem to get them on perfect. Any suggestions?I think they are seated in the slot on the perch too. Do they make optional perches you can buy? Otherwise the kit is great and I think the front end is wonderful in how you can eliminate all the slop as it wears.

Good point. I'll add one and the hardened pivot ball to my spares for both cars.

You must have some oddball crazy narrow front wheels, if you can put spacers on the outside of the wheel and still be on the thick part of the axle. What brand are you using?

With Jaco front wheels, I put the three shims on the inside like the manaul calls for. The outer bearing sticks out past the thick part of the axle slightly. If I tighten the wheel nut up all the way, it locks up the bearings.

With the CRC tires I add more shims. I have 6 of the kit shims on the inside and none on the outside. It is nice with the axle being longer for fine tooning track width in the front. With the springs, I just rotate them around untill they are engaged on the perches and hang off straight. If you "over rotate" them they will try to thread on and sit crooked.
Help this helps,
Wayne
