GT7 or Quantum Competition 2

I'm undecided about what ESC to get. I want the best unit I can get but don't want to spend any more money than I have to.

It appears that the GT7 & QC2 would be the units to get. Having had no practical experience with either make/model, what do you maniacs think?

Both are great ESC's. The LRP is gonna be easier to setup than the GT7. What I mean by setup is programming your ESC to your radio and motor.

i have had both and i just blew up another gt7 the 8th this year i think and no lrps plus the lrp seems faster

I've owned 2 GT7's, one in my buggy and one in my sedan, I've never had a problem out of either or novak of that matter.

For stock they are about equal, but for mod i greatly prefer the qc2, i have blown up plenty of gt7s.

For me, it’s not even debatable – get the Q2.

For stock the GT-7 sucks!! no punch,no matter what program it's on,Get the Q2,better punch, great top end,you get what you pay for, spend the extra 30 to 40 bucks.

How do you "blow up" an esc? overgearing? short circut?

disaster999 01-26-2004 09:55 PM

how about the quantum or quantum 2? which one would work better for stock?

the reason im bringing it up is because i want to change a smaller ESC for my 12th scale but dont wanna spend so much on a brand new ESC.

the q 2 is better in my opinion

I have never had any luck with any Novak products from ESC's to their chargers. But I know people who have had the same experience with LRP.
While I have never had any issues or problems with Associated and LRP customer service, the one thing about Novak is that they have the best customer service of any company I have ever delt with.
I personally run the LRP Quantum 2 in every car. It's a great unit. Many guys in my club said they are now faster with this ESC since switching over from Novak.
Both are good units but I do feel the LRP is better. I have never seen an LRP go bad unless someone had it hooked up incorrectly.
Hope this helps

I see alot of racers switching to the QC2. However, this is a topic that will spark answers from both ends of the field. You will have your supporters and critics of both. I personally use a QC2 in my CRC Carpet Knife and a GT7 in my TC. Prior to having my GT7, I was running the original Novak Cylone (Yes, the yellow labeled one  ) which lasted me for 3 full years of abuse. IMO, it is a matter of preference. You will have to draw your own conclusions once you have the product in your hands and installed in your vehicle.

It will have to be a GT7 cos Q & Q2 no longer available!

I have just ordered a Quantum 2 so they are still available. Rick

Why is that? are they already stopping production on the Q2?
