who made this shock?

Looks like a Yokomo shock to me.

My guess is an AE shock

I've had AE cars since the RC10 first came out and have never seen an AE shock like that. Don't let the blue fool you, it's not AE.

Nor have I ever seen Serpent make a blue shock.

It does look close to some Yokomo shocks I have seen, though not identical.

It also looks similar (though again, not identical) to some Kyosho shocks.

That's what I was thinking but I've been going through all the pics of current Kyosho cars and don't see anything exactly like that. Close but not quite. Of course, it could be an older style no longer in use.

I have the exact shocks on one of my old Atlas cars, the YM-34. I don't think that the shocks are really any one companies property. I would say (just a guess) that several companies bought variations of this shock to use on their own car. Like I said these are even blue, like on my Atlas. I believe that Kyosho did have a car with these on them at some point but I believe they used a different color. I would not be suprised that many companies used them, especially in Japan where there used to be many smaller companies that tried to release a car when the Touring Car thing first got going.

it does look like it has a ae shock rod end and spring cup. but never seen one from them that had a removable bottom like that. the cap almost looks like a yokomo shape

looks like a 3d racing shock. a guy at the track had a set of his tao5 not sure why he didn't just buy tfr's oh well
