Default Best Brushless Motor for Modified in Hot weather

Hey guys, I am wondering what is the best brushless motor for hot weather conditions. We are running a pretty big track and had troubles in the last race meet with cables coming unsoldered.

I was running a LRP 3.0 with a EPA of 50% and it would still get my cables unsoldered from the excessive heat.

Both the ESC and motor had heat sink and fans.

Thanks for your input.

Do you run any special fan on your ESC and/or motor?

Thats why the cables coming unsoldered. The reason there is more heat at partial throttle is due to switching losses in the MOSFETs.Try another way to slow down ( maybe 5 cells or less punch on the speedo or gear down) or better get another motor less powerfull.

Born2Run is correct.
Do not limit the motor/esc performance by turning down the epa it makes it run hotter and less efficient.
This was one of the first things i learnt from Shawn Palmer when the Speedpassion GT esc's came out.
What esc are you using ?
Look at a lower power/punch profile on the esc or similar setting.
Might be an idea to go to a tamer motor untill you get used to driving at those speeds.

I was using a LRP TC Sphere.

It was already on the smoothest profile. I was running Lipo though.

Your motor is way too much for a LiPo setup. I'd run a 4.5 or 5.5.
