Default Mabuchi Stock Silver Can Motors

i got a couple of these mabuchi stock silver can motors laying around. there are no wires attached, so how do you tell with is Positive and which is Negative?

If it's a Johnson Silver can motor...there should be an elephant and the words "johnson" on the pinion side of the motor, the postive on the tab side should be marked with a red or light colored dot. I hope this helps.

Try this. Hook up the pos and neg wires and see how the motor rotates. It it's counter clockwise then you're good.

Also looking at the endbell you'll see the plastic surrounding the terminals. The positive will have an extra dot, or notch on the plastic surounding the terminal.

The side with the square punched in the can is the positive.
