The competition level at our local asphalt track is VERY tough. One of our local drivers just took TQ in 1/12th at Cleveland, one made the 'A' in stock sedan at Cleveland and yet another made the 'A' in masters sedan at Cleveland. You could say that our standards are set quite high. I DO NOT have 1 second per lap to give up because of a set of tires. Tenths or even hundredths of seconds is important.

I have to agree that when you look at the potential combinations of rubber tire compounds and inserts, it can get absolutely crazy! I still remember the old days when rubber tires didn't need inserts. If I need 6 or 8 potential combinations to handle my local track conditions and they loose a second per lap after only a few runs, my rubber tire budget would at least triple what my foam budget is, or I would have to get used to running in the 'B' or 'C' main instead of the 'A'. If that happens, I'm sure my budget for car repairs would also increase based on the caliber of drivers I would then be running with.

I do believe I am going to try rubber this summer, but it just doesn't sound like it will be the right answer for me. We'll just have to wait to see what happens.

shopping.rcmodel.com.hk

Generally fast shipping is about $30us from hk, snail mail is less. If you buy in bulk you'll save alot more even if you choose fast shipping. At my lhs it costs $24 for a set of foams, plus tax and it's over $50 for a set. Much cheaper from hk.

Tip - Buy 30mm or 28mm rears and then cut them down to size, it makes a difference if you buy in serious bulk, otherwise it's not wirth it for a buck or two.

For me buying one set + fast shipping and it is still cheaper then buying from my lhs. But if you pay less for a set of foams then you may have to more to actually save money. Generally when I buy from hk it's more then one set.

My lhs v.s. hk

4 sets of foams (16 tires)

lhs = $200

hk = $94 (about 1 week ems shipping)

Go figure.

One thing is you should contact them to make sure it's in stock, their computer system isn't the greatest so on the internet it can say that the tires are their, but the store might have sold them all to the locals. As long as you've made sure there in stock your looking at around 1 week(could be a little more) with fast shipping(ems), of course it depends on where you live.

There are pics on the website, check it out. Unfortunately no plaid as far as I know, ca on the side walls can fix traction rolling and a little on the face if needed.

Just try a set or two at first to make sure they work at your track.
