3racing F109

Hey F1 guys:
The last pre-production photo and drawing of 3racing latest F1 kit is shown from their website.
Could anybody comment if is any good or bad, please?

My friend guess the suspension system is probably derived from F103 then think is no good due material is too weak.
Could anybody to ensure about this situation, please?

Best regards

It's a link F1 car and link 1:12 scale cars are proven. One great thing about link cars is that you can control\adjust roll movement alot more than a t-bar for more finite tuning.

I like how they have integrated the monoshock to dampen side to side movement.

I'd definitely pick one of these up if I there were an F1 class in my area. I think eventually you'll see alot of the t-bar designs all switching to link\side spring designs.

That is looking Good!

mac853 08-11-2009 04:25 AM

But, anybody could tell me if this chassis could using Tamiya original suspension system of F103, in case my friend bought 1 of that of 3racing, but later he throw it out due it tweak totally since crash little bit from a spin.
Then 1 more thing i want to know, if this chassis fits if using F103's body kits, even from Tamiya, Zen, Blade or TRG?

Finally F109 is on, here's the image of production version of the chassis:http://bbs.rcfans.com/viewthread.php...extra=page%3D1

3racing stuff is usually really really cheap, like pot metal....

I'd stick with Tamiya or even HPI

I haven thad much issue with 3Racing hardware. I had some significant drive line components replaced with 3Racing alloy and CF on my old FW-05RR with a real strong motor on it, and lasted 2 seasons without any issues with any of those parts.

Just saying... Their alloy was as good as any.

I have one coming next week. the Tamiya front suspension arms setup should fit. the chassis is slotted for the arms.
F103 bodies should fit with no problems...

PaPeRo 09-09-2009 11:11 AM

The chassis looks pretty nice, will it be offered by other dealers or is it only available directly from 3Racing?

Cool thanks, looks like this will be my first non-Tamiya R/C and first Formula type car too. This superlight chassis is gonna fly with a BL setup and super high gearing.

i like this alot, i was thinking of getting the HPI F1 but for the same price as the HPI, i think this one will be the one i get

rc-zombies 09-21-2009 01:17 PM

car arrived today...:D was ordered last Wed. very fast shipping.
can't wait to get home and start building it.
car comes with 98T 64p spur w/adapter ring.
Nice manual. very detailed assembly instructions.
Each page printed on nice glossy paper.
According to the specs..has a slightly longer wheelbase of 175mm compared the F104 at 170mm. but sits at 200mm wide and the F104 at 180mm.
Front suspension is fully adjustable.. caster, camber, and Toe.
We'll see how it handles on the track..
At $103 w/body & tires, it's a bargain...

Metla 09-21-2009 02:24 PM

Lookin very cool.

Be interesting to see how these run against the f104, Pretty keen on getting one if they run well.

antonio_cadiz 09-21-2009 03:49 PM

i cant tell you how it compares against the F104 but i did drive the F103-15th Anniversary before and i must say that the F109 handles better than it... rear end is more planted that car is more stable at speeds.... and the car is surprisingly insensitive to bumps and humps and this allows me to really cut the apexes tight and still keep the car pointing right even when i clipped the apex a bit too much......

durability wise, it seems much more sturdy than my old F103 which kinda breaks easily (could be due to my poor and careless driving).... the F109 holds up well even after some fairly bad crashes at speeds after a full weekend of track time.... nothing is broken (yet),,, :)

in summary, very good kit for the price paid.... no regrets....

and yeah... gotta give credit to 3racing for the excellent packaging, quality of parts and top notch manual....

That's great to here..handling is as good and better than the F103.
can't wait to get it on the track...

nope.....

Super Steve 09-22-2009 09:27 AM

Wow, it is an amazing deal.
Much better value than HPI's or Tamiya's latest offers.

It looks like a tight fit for sensor wire tho.

antonio_cadiz 09-22-2009 02:12 PM

what motor brushless.
please is good
thanks

rc-zombies 09-22-2009 10:29 PM

It's about 90% finished. Just got to do the turnbuckles and electronics. Some things I've notice is the plastic is on the flexy side. I immediately replaced the steering knuckles with the stock F103. I have the graphite verion on order. E-clips!!! no extras!!!! so if you lose one..you're out of luck unless you have some laying around. Would like to see the rear pivot bulkhead be made of a stiffer graphite plastic or aluminum one. The main rear shock is a little rough but I think after several packs it will run smooth. The FRP chassis and upperdeck is fairly stiff and adequate. Graphie would be a great upgrade for that extra bling..and .01 sec advantage.

Super Steve..You're right.. BL sensor wire will be a tight fit.. but then again our local track only runs silver can motors. and definately a better car than HPI's. Couldn't compare with Tamiya's F104 Haven't seen one yet.. will have to borrow my bro's when he's not looking.

for $100 it's a race worthy F1 car without going broke...

Manny 09-22-2009 11:38 PM

I've tried the 3racing front suspension on my f103 and the upper hinge pin mount is also on the flexy side. I wonder if the aluminum upper hinge pin mount they make for the f103gt would fit.
