Can't wait to try it out

Thanks E-clip - the pics were much appreciated!

Is it going to be a Benetton this time - your F104 Mclaren was awesome.

I ordered my F1-09 last week so I hope I'll have it early next week (the Swedish custom is sooo sloooow).

Mine will be a Force India (Sutil) - I found some really nice suitable 1:10 vinyl stickers for the body.

That is alot of $$ for vinyl decals....Makes Ddrive stickers a bargain...

Man I might just have to buy one of these!

For the price, its VERY tempting. Will have to see how RcZ's works:D

I'll let Billy take it out for a full test run...

Thinking of getting one and running the F103 TRG Rubber tires. Wat combo do you guys recommend?

Maybe on the next sunday Electric race..

Here's some pics of my new ride..
Plus the Tamiya link front suspension that will fit with no mod.
and a couple left over bodies from my F103 that should fit with little modification. Still have an unpainted Williams BMW that I want to put on.

might be a little too small. Servo mounts made for std and low profile servos. It could work with some modification.

why would you want to put on the f103's linked front end? is the 3racing front end not good enough??

robk 09-24-2009 02:52 AM

The 3racing is more flexible than the Tamiya front end.

Its a very nice kit the build was very enjoying :)

I've got a question is all that blue bling aluminium stuff already included in the kit, or do i have to buy it separately? if included in the kits i think this kit is more that worth for U$100 ............ it can boost up some club racing for formula-1 class

everything you see in e-clips car is included in the kit. Pre-mounted Foam tires. Body etc... Only thing I've added extra on mine is the upper suspension mount, aluminum servo arm, and F103 steering knuckle.

Anyone?

I'm trying to find the best tire combo for Asphalt racing. I'm leaning towards rubber setup as it is easier to maintain and has longer life.

wagnerov 09-24-2009 08:29 PM

So how heavy is this car compared to the F103 15th? It looks like a tank in comparison. If I can find a scale, I'll compare the two. Luckily I have tons...err, ounces of aluminum hardware to even things out. And even a graphite axle. One can learn a lot by looking at the manufacturer's website.

My F109 showed up on the doorstep this afternoon. Can't wait to build the underdog.

And yes, the 3Racing front end is flexi-flyer compared to the Tamiya graphite one, I've tried both on my 15th. About the only advantage to the 3Racing one is adjustable camber so the tires don't cone. The caster adjustment was a waste of time. You have to run much stiffer springs to make up for the flexibility. Unfortunately, much stiffer springs make the e-clip retainers pop off easier if you whack a board the wrong way, resulting in amusing traction-rolls on VHT.

I planning on running a normal stand-up servo, and not a low profile one. If it doesn't fit, well, there's always the dremel.

Don't waste your time with rubber tires with any 2WD F1 car, unless you like doing donuts. Even on an unprepared surface. Sorry. Maybe the added rear weight of this car will help.

Thanks for build pics, it will be interesting to see what this does against serious competition (i've driven almost every F1 car from the past 18 years or so...competitively). $.02 says 3Racing releases a carbon version a couple months down the road so us early adopters will buy it. :tire:

very reasonable and affordable price, thanks for your information mate

Just want to say this car Drives Rings around my F104

Just first tests with two box stock cars

F104 is so hard to drive straight :flaming:

F109 is so easy to drive rear end is planted on the ground and I can full throttle without braking traction unlike the F104 spinning very time I throttle more than half

....

both the Tamiya link suspension and 3R's are identical width. I might do a hybrid of the 2 suspensions.. Tamiya lower arms w/3R's upper arm links.

Wohoo - my F1-09 arrived yesterday :)

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_1.jpg

I'm very impressed by the high quality of both the FRP chassis parts as well as the blue alu parts. The plastic is, as said before, a lot flexier compared to the Tamiya F104. But I don't think this will be a problem.

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_4.jpg

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_7.jpg

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_6.jpg

The manual is first class - one of the best I've ever seen in my 35 years in the hobby!

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_10.jpg

But I think they made a miss on page 4&5 - the upper front caster mount should be mounted the other way around (the hinges to the rear - not to the front as in this picture)

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_5.jpg

The body is nice - but then again not as nice as the original F104 body.

http://www.inzaneracing.com/bilder/box_9.jpg

This kit must, without a doubt, be the best value on the market today!

HPI is proven RC car Co. indeed. Always purchased their cars to race from the first Pro2 to the current Cyclone.. Hate to say it but the HPI F1 looks like a Toy car compared to 3R's.

SMG 09-25-2009 08:06 AM

I have to agree with zombies, The HPI F10 does look like toy next to this thing. So is RC mart the only place you can purchase this car from? thanks

SMG 09-25-2009 09:05 AM

So do you guys think this this car is going to require the f103 front suspension to make it stiffer and better to drive?

timmig 09-25-2009 09:08 AM

Does look impressive!!! It will be cool to see how it performs. Looks like G-10 fiberglass--no carbon?

my f109 is stock and it drives very well... i have fellow f1 drivers notice and comment on how good my car seem to be handling ard the track...

i see no reason to touch anything if the car aint broke....

and guys, pls note that the car's balance is the best when used with the stock tires in the kit... i changed to the tires that i used for my f103 and that really upset my car balance..... needless to say, the 3racing tires are now back on the car....

SMG 09-25-2009 11:08 AM

What kind of motors and ESC's are you guys running?

gsxr0311 09-25-2009 12:00 PM

whats up guys ? i just joined rctech to chat about the f1 cars.

Dang, that sucks. i have the hpi formula ten and the tamiya f104. now i gotta get the 3racing f1. your rite the hpi f1 seems like no competition for the 3racing. it looks way more complex. the hpi is so simple, even more so than the f104. i do like my f104 tho. the hpi i have not really driven, only outside on the street. the tires that come with it such. thy are way to hard no grip. i did order super soft so well se when they come in.

SMG 09-26-2009 05:56 AM

Come on guys more pics and more info!!!

timmig 09-26-2009 08:33 AM

Complex doesn't necessarily mean good! Simple is many times much better. If the car handles well-- I'll take simple over complex any day!! The 109 looks VERY flexy throughout the chassis--but that might allow the rear end to be STUCK--and the front end to push. Seems everything I've read about F-1 cars is its hard to get the back stuck. So --flexy may work. It's just harder to get the front end to work correctly. We'll find out once these cars hit the track together-- I bought and HPI to go with my F103 Tamiya. The Tamiya car works well-- now will the HPI contend with it?? That will be the $64 question!!
