I just got my F109 and am about to start the build process. Any things I should look out for during the build? Any tips or common mistakes I may be able to avoid? I'm going to be running 21.5 with rubber tires on carpet.
Thanks!

I don't remember any issues. Just build it like it says, get your links right, all the fluids and stuff like instructed. Make sure your rear links don't bind. It will be good right off the bat. Most of us modified the side springs to the CRC set up, I believe there's a how to a page or two back. I run 21.5 rubber tires on carpet as well. To get mine running very well, I put some Associated .022" front springs on it and stiffened up the rear shock a bit. That helped to get the rear end to stop wanting to swing around. It is very good now. I'm running Pit Shimizu F/R3 soft compounds and Paragon.

Thanks. Just to clarify something that you posted earlier. The LHS sold me F104 wheels in order to run rubber tires. You said they won't fit without adding some other 104 parts as well? I suppose it would be easier to just get F103 wheels?

I use Pit Shimizu tires on Ride wheels. Those tires also fit on Tamiya foam rims.

yeah it would be easier in the long run. I'm actually converting my narrow F109 back into a standard width. You would need the F104 front end, which is cheap, under $10. And the F104 servo mount. And the F104 size bearings for the front.

there you go. Also check the parts on the F103 parts page, there are some more things. They fit too. This is THE go to place for 3racing stuff. And I believe the only place you can get the Pit Shimizu tires.
Sean, how about a commision check?

Thanks again. Will Shimizu tires fit the F103 rims? Any reason to get the Ride rims instead?

As long as you got F103 tires with F103 rims, they work. 103 and 104s don't play well. Pits fit the Tamiya FOAM rims, they don't fit the Tamiya rubber rims. They work with the Rides well. I got them for looks honestly. A lot of guys say that the Ride wheels are too brittle, but I haven't had a problem. I believe the Pits are actually designed for the foam rims.

I'm changing over to 21.5 brushless from a silvercan....what is a roll out range to start at for a medium indoor carpet track. I'm just looking to get in the ball park for the gearing for the Rev-tech 21.5.
Thanks.....Scooter
