I was considering these two:

Anyone had any experience with either? Any better alternatives?

I've always used the Raytek ones. There are bigger but you can also use these for around the house as well. The range is also a plus since you can point and shoot several feet away.

I purchased a Cen-Tech temp gun from Harbor Freight. I compared the readings from my Harbor Freight unit to another racer's $200 unit (Literally) and the variances between the two were always .2 degrees or less.

O'Donnel TGX-1 can be had for under $30 (search on google) and has a lap-timer and has a lighted display and lap timer. It also comes with a nice case. Pretty much everyone at my track uses mine...

the raytek gun (the 8:1) model is basically identical to the gun i bought saturday from lowes (homeboy depot sucks) and is a little bit cheaper.

i've constantly used it since i got it haha...i measured just about everything at my house even...just to verify the reading, and it's pretty much spot on.

I have the Duratrax Flashpoint like in your first link. It has been working great for years. Some people questioned the accuracy since it was so cheap, but heres what I found out.
I work as an automotive technician, every year my tools must be calibrated to SAE standards. While the calibration equipment was out I asked the man in charge to check my Duratrax. He asked me what it was bought for and told me it was as close as most of the guys $150 temp guns.

I really like Raytek guns. I can check track temps from like 20 feet away and still be within 2-3 degrees of other guns checking from just inches way. Its not that you need such a feature but it says something for the product I think.
