I'm thinking....

17.5 rubber
13.5 rubber
Open/Mod Rubber

13.5 foam

WGT- 13.5/1 cell/lilac specs
13.5 12th

VTA- 100% rules compliance
-or-
RCGT- 100% rules compliance

While i'd prefer VTA for the cool factor and the fact that it uses a completely different motor than the other TC classes, it's not very popular in Florida. Matter of fact, i think my club- www.bearrc.com -is the only area in florida where it's being run. It seems that RCGT is starting to pick up some steam at Village Raceway. The only problem with that is that it's another 17.5 TC class with spec tires and cool bodies.

So, in an effort to reduce redundancy, you've got three TC classes in rubber, one tc class in foam, two different scale pan car classes and a choice between two classes that focus on scale appearance.

I attended every major carpet race there was last year.. I did run foam once... on a 1/12 scale I really have no issues with foam tires man.. I just want to see everyone in one class. It would be nice to see our pro guys running only MOD rubber so we could go to worlds and have a fighting shot. I think we got the talent just gotta play on the same stuff for once

Class - Thoughts

17.5 rubber sedan - why run foam tires with the slowest class?

13.5 foam sedan - a class for the non pro foam guys

10.5 rubber sedan - the mod class of rubber tire. Larry is right, plenty fast enough- make it spec motor- even the european guys will come to see who the best rubber tire driver in the world is. I for one would kinda like to see the pro guys run a spec tire/spec motor class. Let's see who can wheel w/o those prototype motors etc etc

mod foam sedan - for me it's the most entertaining class of the event. The mod foam cars are unbelievably fast since the average Joe like myself doesn't run mod foam, who cares how many boxes of tires you need? Heck make it interesting and give these guys a spec tires and limited sets. All of the sudden making a set of tires last more than one run will make for some interesting strategies.

17.5 GTP - lipo? 4 cell? The 12th scale guys have to call that one.

mod GTP - lipo? 4 cell? It's mod- give the lipo guys a weight break and see who can make it work.

VTA - It's hard for me say whether VTA or World GT is the best pick, but I kinda feel that VTA gives the "club racer" a little more option financially speaking.

As for the foam/rubber argument, Chicky is right, some races draw more foam racers than others and vice-versa, but this isn't Europe or Japan. This is the USA and we should base our classes off what the Race Promoter can sell. If foam tire racers will come, then have something for them! My point is, this hobby is constantly evolving, sometimes it's a cycle, sometimes it's something new, but whatever it is, cater to the most popular classes. More entries means lower average cost of racing to the racers. (Mike, hint hint)

1/12 - 13.5 or 17.5, 1 cell (depending on track size?)
1/12 - MOD, 1 cell
1/10 - 13.5, rubber
1/10 - MOD, rubber
1/10 - 13.5, foam
1/10 - MOD, foam
"Exhibition class" - RCGT/VTA/WGT

Make the non-MOD classes run a spec tire (except the exhibition class due to spec rulings).

'Nuff said.

21.5 novice only (rubber sedan) once they get better they can move up

17.5 stock (rubber sedan,foam sedan, 1/12th, wgt)

10.5 mod (rubber sedan, foam sedan, 1/12th, wgt)

i think this would simplify things, back in the day onroad was great when we only had stock and mod. you give people to many options it only splits everone up. (kiss) keep it simple silly

OK I tried to go through them all. Here are the results:

GTP MOD: 34 votes
Touring Rubber 17.5: 33 votes
Touring Rubber 13.5 : 30 votes
Touring Rubber Mod: 25 votes
GTP 17.5: 21 votes
WGT 10.5: 21 votes
GTP 13.5: 20 votes
VTA: 20 votes
WGT 13.5: 16 votes
Touring Foam 17.5: 12 votes
Touring Foam 13.5: 12 votes
Touring Foam 10.5: 12 votes
Touring Rubber 10.5: 9 votes
Touring Foam Mod: 9 votes
GTP 10.5: 8 votes

If you take the top 7 just off that:

GTP MOD
Touring Rubber 17.5
Touring Rubber 13.5
Touring Rubber Mod
GTP 17.5
WGT 10.5
GTP 13.5

If you combine 17.5/13.5 Rubber Touring, GTP 17.5/13.5, WGT 13.5/10.5, and Touring Foam 17.5/13.5/10.5 votes:

Touring Rubber 17.5/13.5 (63 votes)
GTP 17.5/13.5 (41 votes)
WGT 13.5/13.5 (37 votes)
Touring Foam 17.5/13.5/10.5 (36 votes)
GTP MOD (34 votes)
Touring Rubber Mod (25 votes)

I'm still waiting to see a 20 car VTA A-Main...

As for the 7 classes, here goes...

17.5 TC rubber
10.5 TC rubber
13.5 1/12 scale (1 cell)
Mod 1/12 scale (1 cell, open motor)
WGT (if it ever takes off)
VTA or RCGT (heavily leaning towards VTA)

If you REALLY need a 7th class, I guess it would have to be 13.5 rubber...

Seven classes:

17.5 Rubber TC
10.5 Rubber TC
13.5 Foam TC
10.5 Foam TC
17.5 1/12th
10.5 1/12th
WGT

But if you wanted big classes shrink it down more:

13.5 Foam TC
13.5 Rubber TC
13.5 1/12th
VTA
WGT
F1

This makes for really packed classes with the pros racing with everyone else. And the VTA, and F1 classes for non sponcered drivers only.

I would hope not, as the general dipshittery on RCTech shouldn't be used to determine much of anything.

And as for the foam vs rubber thing, yes Scotties races do attract more rubber TC's, but as for ROAR Nats, it was about even this last year in Cleveland, and rubber only had 2 heats in the previous Nats at Omaha.

I personally love racing foam, I've raced TC's since they started and back then there was no such thing as foam tires for TC's. The class was struggling back then with all the 1 run super soft rubber tires that you had to run to be able to make it around the track without spinning or pushing to the wall. Foams came out and then the class really took off. Now everyone wants to go back to rubber. Do you know how many times this has happened? I've seen turnouts go back and forth. At my track we had both, till Drew and I got some of the new rubber TC racers to try foams. They were having problems getting the rubber to hook up with 13.5's and were about to quit on-road and go back to off-road. They were amazed at the difference. Needless to say they actually tossed the rubber tires in the trash and finished the season having a blast.
Now with all this being said, I still think rubber has it's place. If you keep the motor power down, it is great for beginers. If I still had my track I would push for a 21.5 Rubber TC Rookie class. I think it would be a great way to break in the newbies without destroying the car and their hopes.

There were 43 rubber cars in Omaha for carpet nats. And as for the rest of your post........full of misinformation...........not the time or thread to address it.
