I couldn't agree more! Well said.

If you were twisting my arm and said choose foam or rubber classes, i'd say rubber.

But loosing foam from a big event? Damn.

We already lost it in the UK, Maybe we didn't even have it for sedan...

i really wish some people would stop making this a rubber vs. foam thing for touring cars its plenty of people that love to run both or one or the other, this is really not the problem. the problem is that there is to many different motor classes. dont hate on the rubber or foam if its not your thing they both can survive together. its a hobby lets enjoy

I can't help but think foam could have been saved with spec tires. Dbl pink all the way around was the end for me.

I'll be genuinely surprised if the Photon isn't the last sedan with a specific kit for foam racing ever made. Is there a foam version of the new Phi? You think XRay will have one for the '010? AE?

I like the idea of 3 sedan classes. My favorite racing as a spectator was back in the day when foam was big, and you had your pros in mod, your semi-pros in stock, and then all the guys would meet in the middle for 19T. And it wasn't always the pros that won. I'd love to see that again.

17.5 rubber
13.5 rubber
mod rubber (lets find a way to slow it down a bit?)

This gives -all- dedicated sedan racers the opportunity to run two classes at a big race, and pick the two they're most comfortable with.

As for the rest, some mix of 1/12 and WGT that keeps the pan car crowd happy. I can't really see a good case for having more than 3 total between the group, it just dilutes things too much.

If there's regional interest, some specialty slow class like VTA. Just put 50 guys in the A main so everybody is happy.

Well, if you consider IIC, there's 3 classes of foam and 3 of rubber.

Total Foam Entries: 27
Total Rubber Entries: 148

And one of those rubber classes is only available to a portion of the racing populous. An additional rubber class would probably draw another 50+ entries.

So, apparently, there's at least a couple more people running rubber at big races than foam.

i like this comment "the rest of the world runs rubber tire" hmmmm since when does the US follow the rest of the word all this crying about foam vs. rubber. how many of you run mod rubber on carpet probably none and if you do, your probably no good at it. the vegas race doesnt surprise me at all their nothing wrong with rubber tire. its just this rubber/foam battle is stupid, all this rubber is cheaper stuff just kills me. its cheaper to be more competitive now than it used to be in either class when we were running brushed motors constantly buying brushes and NiMh. if the price is an issue than maybe being a basher would be a better option.

Yeah, nothin like truing new foams to 57mm, running a few practice runs with em, retruing them for quals and the mains... and some tool hacks your ish and chunks your dbl pinks on the 2nd lap. FAIL.

Gimme rubbers anyday. Ive pushed for rubber tires locally since 2001... they are now allowed YEARS later and local TC attendance is now all but non-existent. FAIL.

So whats WIN?

1) 13.5/19t rubber TC 8 minutes (gear it... make it work)
2) open rubber TC 6 minutes (gear it... make it work)
3-7) Whatever the heck else. I personally dont care about other classes... but that doesnt mean they arent important to anyone else.

Anyone notice races cost more and more... and yet run times are basically the same? $2k spent for a week off of work and hotel life/fast food for 25 minutes of controlled competition? Eh. Reduce classes... more run time. More bang for your $$$.
