How to set timing on lrp 11x 17.5

My friend should me how to adjust the timing on the motor the other day

which i believe is set at 12

the can moves from 9-12 o'clock but which end is which

and what is the max and mini

if you turn it left you advance it. if you turn right you retard it. becareful not to advance it too much, it could overheat and can destoy the motor.
