Hey just wondering wat tyres are better foam or rubber and do u have to set the car up differently for each tyre
is there much difference between the two

Now there's a can of worms! For me, rubber is miles better for various reasons (constant diameter makes setups easy, nicer feel due to slightly lower grip)

You do need to run different setups and there can be quite big differences between the two. When manufacturers offer a foam car, it tends to have a much stiffer chassis and stiffer suspension than the rubber version, and normally runs a diff at the front instead of a spool.

The most important thing about the tyres is what are they racing near you. In Europe for example it's only rubber tyres, while in the States especially indoors foam tyres are the way to go.

Like Sosidge said, the setup of the car is completely different between rubber and foam tyres. They are about 2 opposites of each other and concidering that 95% of the car's behaviour is affected by the tyres, do the math about the rest of the car's setup.

Well, I am going to be very biased on my answer and say I prefer foams.

On my local 10x15m carpet track, foams work better for all the fastest racers than any rubber tyre, as lots of turn in is needed on such a tight track.

We cannot seem to get a hard compound rubber tyre to heat up enough to get traction, a softer compound tyre will overheat on the sidewalls and grip roll or just not perform consistantly enough to feel confident in.

With a set of hard foams, (40 shore front and rear) the grip is comfortable- Predictable for me as in practice and qualifying round 1 I will use additive, the car will push a little when really nailed.

but then rounds 2, 3 and 4 and the final I wont use any additive as enough has already got onto the track by other racers and the grip has come up nicely, and the lap times go down.

However...

Not every track you will race at will be like this. It works for me, but might not work for you :)
