Default New Radio or Brushless/Lipo system?

I have recently purchased a Traxxas Rustler and an Associated rc18r. I currently race the rustler in a slash spec class and I plan to race the 18r in the winter. I would like to get a brushless system for my 18r, but I dont have enough spare cash to get both that and a new 2.4 Ghz radio. It gets pretty annoying changing out the crystals and messing with that stuff, and it would be nice to only have one transmitter. Any suggestions on what I should do first?
