Make sure your charger is on the correct profile for 2s LiPo. It may be set to 1s or some other chemistry type. If the voltage is less than 8.4V, then it is not over voltage for 2s LiPo, and there must be a setting problem on the charger

This type of message can occur on a balancing charger if just one of the cells is over voltage. Check both cells seperately.

You can measure each cells voltage through the balance plug.
Then run the battery in the car if a cell is over 4.2v.
Once done put it on a balancer to equalise before balance charging.

What charger are you using ?
Some chargers wont charge if there is a voltage difference of .4v or more untill the battery is equalised.

Check if your charger balancers on its own and then leave it to balance for a few hours.

Thanks a lot guys, problem solved.

I connected an external (stand alone) balancer for couple hours and then back to my charger/balancer and it charged the battery perfectly.

This happened after charging the battery couple times WITHOUT balancer, only direct charging ...

thanks for your help,

you can direct charge but every now and then balance the pack.
Only balance when pack is full, or balance charge after every 10 charges.
