That is Jilles Groskamp's car, he uses Nosram ESC's.

Has anybody been running these new mod ballistic motors, how do they compare to the older Novak motors?

Ran my ballistic 13.5 this week. The new design is pretty fantastic. The motor felt about the same on the track as the old one, though maybe a little smoother. Power was good, and with some timing, seemed to match the new DUO2 I was testing with better infield rip.

That's good to hear. I've always liked Novak's Brushless motor's, but having to deal with sensor wire breakage and/or too long of a sensor wire irritated me, along with the silly and hard to move timing ring. Those problems are solved.

Now Novak has upped the game with a completely rebuildable motor. Burn up the winding, buy a new winding, blow up the rotor, buy a new rotor. It also appears that these motors and all parts are available online directly from Novak, so it's just a matter of time before they are available elsewhere.

Now if we can just get Novak to release a new RACE speed controller to go along with these new ballistic spec motors...

Never been a Novak guy but the new Ballistic is interesting. I like the fact that you can buy the parts you burn up unlike the other ones. I will be watching to see how they work out but I might break down and buy one (damn I never thought I would say that!!!!!!!!!!)

Is the motor going to be Roar approved? I heard mention that it was submitted. But on CarAction website, it listed it as "Not approved for ROAR-spec racing." Just curious.

I believe that the Ballistic motor is ROAR approved. I have seen the Ballistic motors at the track and with sufficient timing, and proper gearing, the motors are extremely fast. A Novak Ballistic motor at West Coast RC in La Mirada last Thursday night was clocked at 40 MPH on the straightaway!

Modified class? Any idea which Ballistic? 8.5 or 10.5? Thanks!
