well i took the 17.5 i bought and stuffed in a 8.5. pretty neat i confess. motor has pop too. crazy to see how much change that lil bit of timing scale has on the motor. the advance sounded scary!!! back this thing down.

i know this is the onroad thread, but it seems the info is here. need an idea of roughly where to gear a 2wd buggy on the 8.5 thx

I would run something like 21 to 23/78 would be a good starting point for you.

Told you the motor was pretty wild how you can change from one wind to another.

We have a separate, Ballistic Motor accessory category in the store:

Novak Balistic Motor accessories

I added the earlier Velociti 12.3 rotor (same rotor, but cheaper) and the 14mm "Crawling" rotor to this page. The existing Vel/SS Pro accessories fit the Ballistic----sleeves, fans, cooling kits, heat sinks.

We may add some higher wind stators (25.5, etc) to this category, if there is any interest.

Shame they don't push the skill boundary

My novak 10.5 is now 2 years old and starting to die, so a ballistic is in order I think

Unfortunately, the escs/motors do not yet provide an on-board adjustment for skill.....

It's funny you said that, because I was going to shoot Steve an email and ask him if a 25.5 would be easier to wind with this Stator than the SSPro was...

I'm going to have to dig through my box of experimental stuff, and find the original 25.5's and see how they run now that we have a much larger gearing selection now...

This COULD be what I'm looking for to have yet a little slower class... (cause in the PRO's hands the 21.5's RIP up a Short Carpet track and a VELODROME)...

The RECORD Set at the Encino Velodrome 2 weeks ago, had the 21.5 cars running almost a second and a half a lap faster than the PRO MODIFIED CARS ran @ the old RCTHUNDERDROME back in the Late 80's/Early 90's - (and this is our SLOW class!) Speed was clocked @ 57 MPH "Average" for the fastest lap, with the actual TOP SPEED over 60 MPH!

So does the spec wind stators fit the modified ballistic motors, as up on this page ultragrassi has put in a 8.5 into a 17.5 motor?

Also does the rear end 3 timing assy screws screw into plastic or metal?

The mod and spec ballistic motor parts are compatible with one another.

The three screws in the back thread into an aluminum plate so the chance of stripping anything is reduced.
