Guys both of my 120's did something strange today. After running for about 20 seconds they would act like the thermal went off, cutting voltage dramatically, the car would roll for about 10-15 seconds. Then burst back into life, full power, for 20-30 second and same cycle again. It happened with one car using a 8.5 (mod profile software) and another using a 17.5 (stock profile software- no turbo). Neither was even hot to the touch. Both had fans and caps on. My 60 (with no cap) and a 10.5 ran flawlessly.

Any ideas?

Two different packs. One is 1 month old SMC, the other is a year old checkpoint. Both worked with the 60a esc.

1/2 the issues solved - on the esc using the 8.5. The A wire (negative) was slightly loose - I mean really slightly. But it made a pretty good arc, then I touched it.

Still chasing down the other esc. It's late will look at it tomorrow. Including a re-flash of the software.

check your soldering on esc and motors as this can also cause problems.

what is your voltage cut-off setting? try lowering the voltage cut-off back to 3.0V.

Didnt think if that Rev - I run 3.4 (like to be ultra safe)- I run offroad so run time is no issue.

All the solder joints on the 17.5 car were good. I am also going to check the sensor tab in the motor. To see if I can see any issues.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I have not had a problem with the motors... though i have one and only used it for one meeting

It seemed OK. I thought it ran a little warm compared to other motors i had run, but then again it has no holes in the can for air to flow..... which i will fix before the next race...

Its a 10.5t.... It seems to rev a little less when no timing is applied... so my question is how much advance is built into the motor?

Default XERUN problem

Hi guys,

Last Saturday, I ran my XERUN 120 Amps with a 13.5T motor. A fews laps after I started, the car started to loose power in certain parts of the straight. It will boost for a quick moment then suddenly loose power as if I was running a silver can motor. There were portions of the track where there would be full power and there would be some where it has none, consistently. That happens when I ran it on NiMH. It happens less on a LiPo.

Yesterday, I ran it again and was ok again with the LiPo, but noticed that the motor was running really hot, ranging from 140 to 170. Finally, just before heading home, I tried running another pack of NiMH, then the unfortunate event happened, the car shut down on the track. When we did the temp, it was 180.

I went back to the pit and cooled down everything. When I turned my esc on again and try pull the throttle, it was doing very short bursts for a moment and died. We tried to do an initial set-up and the lights were responding. I placed the program card and it was reading the esc's profile. I changed receivers and batteries and it is still dead. One thing I notice though is that the only thing not responding was the motor. My servo was working fine and all the fans go on when I turn the ESC on.

Any thoughts you may have regarding the problem will be greatly appreciated. Motor, ESC or both? Please advice. Thanks.

Questions?? I am getting similar problems too

I was racing tonight with 518 software, as I have always done. I would drive for a short time, and then the car would go about a 3rd slower. If stopped and switched off then back on it was ok. Of my four runs tonight, I only had one fast run.

Someone suggested I re-install the firmware, can it be something else. BTW i used a new battery pack, and the motor did not get hot.

A peculiar question, here...
So as not to buy a new Ezrun 60A, can I use my spare Xerun 60A to power an 8.5T sensorless Ezrun motor on my son`s 4wd buggy?
Will this combo work?
I wonder!!!
