Default .5mod vs 48p

Are these two sizes, .5 mod and 48pitch close enough in size to give me any problems running a .5 mod pinion against a 48p spur? I ran the .5mod pinion against a 48p pinion and it felt nice and smooth. Should they work fine together?

Nope, you have to match up the pinion and spur with the same pitch.
