Default Novak TC Race

A little update.....we are done with two days of practice. TL cars are working well. Fast laps have been turned by Matt Francis and Mike Dumas(Xray now....booo). 11.1 is the fast lap. Paul Lemiuex is here running a HPI Pro 4...he is running OK...not as good as his TL car was at Cleveland. Easton is also here and running good laptimes. Other fast people are Tossolini with his Corally and Barry Baker is also running good with his TC4. My car is good....consistent but not super fast lap times. Most of the racers are using the Parma Alfa however some racers have busted out the PF Stratus 3.0. We have 3 hours of practice in the morning and then on to 2 rounds of qualifying. The race has 285 entries. It has snowed about 4 inches this morning.

Good luck to you Todd and the rest of Team Losi. I am sure when it is all said and done a JRXS will come out on top.

Default Traction

1. How does the traction of rubber tires on carpet compare to asphalt?

2. I want to practice and work on my setup of my XXX-S for outdoor aspahlt racing this spring. If I were to use rubber tires instead of foams would that simulate the traction conditions of rubber on asphalt?

3. If I ran foam tires on un prepared parking lot asphalt would the use of foams give me better traction than slicks or treaded tires.

4. Are the 1/10 foam tires (nitro shoes?) essentially foams which designed to be more durable (onabrasive surfaces like asphaltthan regular indoor Touring car foam tires?

5. What is the reason that gas cars use foams on asphalt but electric do not?

imjonah-

1. Rubber tires tend to have more traction carpet.

2. Yes

3. Treaded tires may be very good.

4. Yes

5. Not sure why....I wish all racing was foam tire!!

todge: welcome back. was just wondering if there particular reasons why it was a "challenge" to get up to speed during the DHI. was it just lack of track and practice time with the new car using rubber on carpet? just curious if it was a struggle to get a good set-up going quickly considering the race circumstances/conditions. is it easier to get the car hooked up in other racing conditions? ... i was really looking forward to seeing you and/or matt mix up in the A.
